at the reactions of fans after games like these.  What we ran into tonight was a team capable of beating us by double digits if they played well and they did.  OSU probably played one of their best game of the year and we were the unlucky team that happened to be there for it.  Sure, we had more than our share of defensive breakdowns and some silly turnovers, but when you face a more talented and athletic team playing with tons of energy that happens.  I didn't expect it to go down quite like that, but I didn't expect OSU to play that lights out either.  The way the game was called tonight, we weren't going to be able to make this a game in the 60s, we had to outscore OSU to win, and we weren't capable of doing so.

The real thing this game magnifies is the silly loss in Lincoln, shooting 30% in losing to Tech at home, and not being able to finish the game at home against Kansas.  Those are the games we needed to win.  Those are the games that shrink your margin for error and put you in position to have to win a game like this one tonight.

Now our margin for error is zero; win at home vs OU, hope Tech wins out and finishes 5th, smashes CU on thursday, and then we get a shot to beat them.  We now need that win on friday in OKC (and maybe one on saturday), its to that point now.  Get over yourself and get focused on that.

It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

The only stat that really mattered is 3FG% defense.

If we hold them to what we normally hold teams to, it's a 2 point game.

Well said. OSU played their best game by far in the past month, possibly even the year. They were due. We didnt play horrendous, effort was there for the most part, but they had more energy, played faster and as Huggs said "got to the ball quicker"

Stan and Wyatt keep harpin on beating OU gets us in, but the way all the bubble teams are winning, its gonna take 2 to be in.

What gets me is you people act like you're just discovering this and somehow calling them out is going to help.  Guess what, these same players won 9 league games and our on the road to 10, which was way out of sight for even the most optimistic after Walker went down.  It seems like we just lost the league championship tonight to some of you folks, when in reality we're still likely finishing above where any of us except the most homeristic optimist ever imagined.  Frustration with the loss?  Fine, but this overreaction and acting like a bunch of GP 3rd graders gets old.

Bottom 4 talent.

Easy for people to forget.  Too easy.

With idiots like sys running around, meltdowns like this are expected.

Anyone have the preseason prediction thread they can bump?  We did that b4 Walker if I remember correctly.

FWIW - we do happen  to play a very frustrating brand of ball sometimes, but I agree the meltdowns are entertaining.

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

The fans of a team usually make ridiculous predictions. I saw alot of 12-4's.....do people realize Self took Langford/Miles/Simien and did no better than 12-4?

That's true.  I made silly 9-7/8-8 predictions for Wooly often.   :frown:

You can't really get pissed off about losing to Tech, NU, and then OSU before you actually lose to OSU, can you?  The timing seems pretty good to me.

It really amazes me that this team did win 20 games. They have no post players, no point guards, and all of their wings(Martin,Harris,Wright) other than Hoskins are extremely uncoordinated and have no dribbling skills. And on top of that they are pretty slow and unathletic. The recruiting class hasnt been very good, but I still think they will be servicable players.

No, I suppose its about having a little perspective and not reacting like a 10 year old.  That's all I'm saying.  I suppose that's what these deals are for though.

well what about you guys hitting 14 3's on texas?  are you saying that texas deserved to win?  and also by this token we hold oral roberts to normal 3pt % we kill them.  don't use the would coulda shoulda excuse.

It's just what happened.  We didn't do it, so we didn't win.  Our perimeter defense was atrocious - it wasn't like oSu was making tough shot after tough shot.  They got a ton of open looks.

i am saying dont rag on kus for losing to oral roberts and then give the same reason/excuse why you guys lost to osu.  the oru guy vealy hit 7 threes against us.  he had hit 1 in his entire career before that game and has hit 14 in the 26 next games.  but we still lost fair and square.

To me this wasn't anything like that.  Harris is capable of hitting shots and he did.  Curry is capable and he did.  Then Eaton and the spike kid make one.

Rusty's point really isn't an excuse at all, its really getting at the fact that our 29% 3 PT defense wasn't some fluke, yet tonight we somehow forget where Harris was a few times and decided to play under some screens for Curry and that helped those guys go off.  Really, Rusty is making a rational critique of the Cats, not some excuse.  Come on Hawk, read the thread, this really isn't that hard.

    Fear the Brick
I predicted an 8-8 conference season, so I suppose that given our current record I should be pleased....but that prediction was based on the fact that I thought that the Big 12 North was going to be a bit tougher than it really is/was.  The fact of the matter is, that no matter what everyone expected from KSU, KSU was in a position to do something special and has failed.  You can't just look at what you predicted in October without factoring in the reality of the position you are currently in.  I was disappointed in the loss against OSU, not surprised, but disappointed because we could have locked up a Tourney bid.  I'm much more disappointed in the @NU loss, which is killing us.

The north teams, especially NU and MU, have been much better than I expected.  ISU and ku, about what I expected.  CU, much worse.

In the south; aTm and OU about what I expected.  UT and Tech better than expected.  OSU, slightly worse than expected (except last night).  BU, much worse.
