I am new to the board and this is my first post.  I e-mailed the Peta lady and this is the response I got along with my e-mail.  I don't really understand what she was getting at, quoting her personal friend Buddha no less, but...mehh.

Subject: Thank the chicken gods

Dear Ms., Vergerio,

My name is Harrison Beck and I'm a chicken.  I want to thank the chicken
gods (yes, we have several) for my life being spared by the faithful
Kansas State Wildcat fans. I was destined for the slaughterhouse when I was
whisked away in a heated auto to the most exciting atmosphere I've ever
encountered. I was in awe of the loud applause and I wondered at the bright lights.
I could not get enough of the jubilation of the crowd.  Then, to top it
all off, I was thrown free into the air flying (well gliding but who are you
to judge) across the court.  The fans stood in ovation of my amazing
efforts.  But, this is not all about the one experience.  I was destined for a
tasty, juicy, bucket of the Colonel's extra crispy but now get to spend the
rest of my days in idle comfort pecking around a dorm room.  Let me tell you,
the pickings are much better then the dusty baths I used to have to take.  I
also Hated pecking in the dirt all day.  Now, I get left over pizza, bugs,
pot seeds, you name it.  This is truly the chicken life.  I only wish
more of my feathered friends could join me.  Alas, I read your letter.  I
cannot believe you are against the freedom of my family and friends.  If it was
up to you we would all be succulent, delicious pieces of the Colonel's
Original recipe or maybe even the Colonel's new Honey BBQ
wings.....mmmm.....those wings sure do make my tummy growl.  Have you tried the Fiery Hot Buffalo
wings?  Truly a delight like no other.  But I digress, please rescind
your letter calling for the end of my kinds freedom.

Yours in chicken bliss,

Harrison the tasty free chicken

PETA ---->
I find the whole PETA topic amusing. To say the least I just know some whiny low life "lowrent" fan is somewhere huddled in the corner of his "gay liberation army" compound rubbing his hands together and claiming victory.

To quote PETA "When given access to fresh air and sunshine, jayhawks, who are very intelligent and inquisitive animals, thrive and spend most of their time taking dust baths and scratching in the dirt"

I can only add "as I would expect them to do."

I love autumn. On those crisp, clear and cold morning's I step out on my porch coffee in hand. Listen to the dogs calling out their anxious sounds to be on our way. Out into the field to hunt birds!

Regarding what about the Packers?? There is nothing Wefald can do about students throwing chickens onto the court and he probably thought it was hilarious. The students that threw the chickens didn't even get kicked out because the security guards couldn't tell who threw them.

The Green Bay Packers were named after a meat packing company in the city of Green Bay.

PETA went after them a few years ago to ask that the team be renamed.  Packers have been around since 1919.  Think PETA is going to convince them to change their name?  Doubt it.

Yeah, PETA has made a joke of themselves.  I am sure they started as a noble organization trying to stop pepper spray testing on chimps and whatnot but they have snowballed into a disaster of an organization.

Considering to draft an email to her myself. I am in the ASI 595 course, which covers animal ethics. I can turn her crap right back on herself. She wont know what hit her.

She'll quote Buddha. It is of no use.

Edit: send something to Wefald telling him that you think that no more security should be involved and how that if the students get it by the current security then they shouldn't be punished. Explain to him how the road these chickens end up taking is a much better road than the one to the slaughterhouse per your ASI 595 course that teaches you all about this crap.

Poor, Poor chickens....should have left 'em for the Colonel.  Then they could have fullfilled their PETA destiny and you wouldn't have to cry yourselves to sleep at night.

in reality the security should be reduced.  the cruel part of the whole chicken thing is the extended period of near suffocation they suffer beforehand.  which is a direct result of security measures.  the actual flying down and running around the court part is fine for the birds.  or it would be if they were allowed to come in under decent conditions.

    The "other" KSU
ABSOLUTLY HILARIOUS!!! Peta is a organization that has very little reason for being on this planet. I dont like seals getting their head beaten in, but there are many PEOPLE in this country in worse situations... PETA couldn't give a crap about any of them.
