Walker and Beasley playing 1 year at KSU isn't going to do anything for that program. In fact, if anything it might hurt it.

Thanks to "uaku34" for that stunning insight.

Idiocy duly noted.  We should tell Texas and Ohio State that Durant and Oden are hurting their programs.

Huggins brought in three talented four year players along with Walker and Beasley. If he keeps getting a couple four or five star PFs in each of the next couple of classes and Pullen, Sutton, and Brown keep playing well/improving, there will be no problem with anyone leaving early.

That goes way beyond idiocy.  That is blatant blind rationalization.  Its been less than a week and the relief of sweeping Huggs this year is already wearing off and the silly comments that make no sense are already back.  Opposing fans that are not concerned say things like "keep your coach, he's on the brink of getting you over the hump", whereas concerned fans make up stuff to make themselves feel better.  ku will still be a very talented team next year, but they can see based on what Huggs has done with Wooly's leftovers and some decent last minute recruits this year that if he gets in legit upper tier talent (like he has) then they are on much shakier ground.

The Texas 05-06 to 06-07 comparison is AWFUL!

We aren't losing players like Gibson, Aldridge, Paulino etc...

We are losing a bunch of players that most big 12 schools wouldn't touch outside of Cartier.
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

Don't forget about Big XII Player of the year PJ Tucker.

They've "plummeted" from 1st to 3rd.

Huggs getting JB to come here a month after hes hired + JB being better than anyone ku signed for next = concerned

I think comparing next years Cats to this years Texas is very legit.  The thing that we will have next year that Texas is missing is Senior leadership with Stew and Hoskins.  I think next years team will fluctuate b/t #15 and #35 for most of the season while the Freshmen get used to college ball.  Hopefully they all gel like Texas has late in the season.

I just don't want people jumping off the wagon b/c we are not among the top teams early in the season.  Expectations are high, but we will be young and I always like to try to temper my enthusiasm till I see something on the court.

Also, unlike Texas, our guys will play defense.

Yup, and if they'd played some defense, they'd probably have a shot at #1 right now.

how is that relevant?  the comparison isn´t this year´s cat team to last year´s ut team, it is next year´s ksu to this year´s ut.  who you had the year before is meaningless.

there were a few idiotic posts in that thread (and not one even mentioned evans?!), but basically the gist is correct.  ksu is going to lose some games to less talented teams due to inexperience.  and expectations ranging from 06´07 uconn on the low end to 05-06 ku on the high end, and centered around 06-07 ut seem about right to me.

what surprised me most is that i could access that link.

"these are no longer “games” in the commonly accepted sense of the term. these are free throw shooting contests leavened by the occasional sprint to the other end of the floor."

Phog.net has become very comical over the last couple of days.  Instead of reading the comics in the newspaper, you can just head over there and get the same amount of laughs.

I think they all were expecting to blow us out on Monday and are surprised we stayed that close.  They know the talent level gap will be closer in the years to come and are worried the years of dominance are over in the BXII.  They have to get all of their crap talking out while they can.

There concern is overwhelming and are fishing for anything to down play the talent we will have next year.  Will we be young? Yes.  However, we will have Senior leadership in Hoskins and Stew.  I also see Bill Walker stepping up in a big way and becoming a team leader.

But who am I to talk about college basketball.  Since I am a KState fan there is no way I could possibly have a BBIQ anywhere near the posters on the phog.

Here is another quote I found funny.

Quote
KSU's only shooters are Martin and Harris. Their best defender is Wright. KSU has no reliable point guards. KSU will be more athletic next year; however, I think they will struggle, even more than they do now, to score next year.

They need a couple of the new faces to be able to hit lights out from the outside from day 1. That is hard to do. Kind of depends on how much the conference improves (MU should move past them in the North), but I think they are a NIT team next year. The target for actually competing for a title in the Big 12 should be two seasons away, assuming they don't lose anyone

yes, but only on gp.  not sure if that counts.

It is relevant because UT lost all of their starters.  Yes, we bring in a lot of young guys but we will still have guys who have played for 2+ years.  Something UT did not have.  At times we will have a very young inexperienced lineup on the floor, but we wont lack the Senior's like UT has this year.  Who you had the year before is meaningless, but the players coming back is the difference I see between 06-07 UT and 07-08 KSU.

I'm not sold on Pullen. The more video I watch of him, the more I think he's overrated. He'll struggle next year against moderate backcourts.
