the combine should belong to Clayton, who just looks like a NFL running back. He has the size -- 5-foot-10 and 220 pounds. He has the speed -- he's listed on the Web site at 4.52, but he's been training and it wouldn't be surprising if he ran in the 4.4 range. And he has the charisma -- everyone likes Clayton, the rare college athlete with a pair of perfect nicknames in "Hollywood" and "T-Gunn."

Production will probably make him a second-day selection -- nfldraftscout.com projects him as a seventh-round pick -- but the NFL loves giving second chances. And the league also falls in love with workout wonders, and the ripped Clayton will likely put on a show in Indianapolis.

I just looked it up. Josh Scobey ran the fastest time among running backs at his combine, a 4.38. He also had the fastest shuttle in his group with a 3.93.

He went in the 6th round.

I hope for the best for Clayton. But a first day pick? He would be beating some serious odds.

He wasn't an academic casuality at least not before the bowl game.  If he was eligible to play at the start of the season then he would have been eligible for the entire first semester and his disapearance happened around mid season or so.  Your eligiblity is based upon what you did in the previous semesters not the current one.

Carriker is an almost certain first rounder. Moore and Bradley are probably 2nd rounders. Then Brandon Jackson is likely a 2nd or 3rd rounder. Zach Taylor might get picked up late as a backup QB with experience running the WCO. We don't have a ton of guys graduating, so we're actually doing pretty well.

if clayton gets drafted...then they didnt watch out game films. he cant break a tackle to save his life, and any time he tries to juke someone he'll just slip and take himself out. if he goes to a team they will be disappointed

On defense, we lost all four starters on the D-Line, but have even more talented guys behind them who are ready to go. We lose Bradley at LB. But the rest of the defense is back, and with the return of Bowman and the influx of talent virtually everywhere, both the offense and defense will be better next year.

You lose Taylor, Big XII offensive player of the year, and bring in an unproven QB. We don't know if Marlon Lucky will even be back to health by then so that is a non-issue right now. You lose your entire D-Line, your strongest aspect of your team. An All American D-End in Carriker. And you think your "talent" will make you better at D-Line than before? You are kidding yourself, you can have all of the talent in the world but nothing can make up for that experience. You lose a LB, another key player to your defense. You return and atrocious secondary, congratulations. So basically you lose your best part of your offense (Taylor) and your best part of your defense (your D-Line) and you are supposed to be better than you were last year? Not a chance in hell.

It really annoys me when NU fans say Keller is an improvement.  He may be an improvement in physical skills, but that is all anyone can possibly know at this point.  He has what....7 college starts?  And I'm not even going to get into the ASU situation b/c I know the spin brigade will begin.  My favorite was when some of your fans were claiming that the players who wanted Carpenter as QB were his fellow classmates.  Do a quick google search...it was the senior leadership counsel.

On defense the line will be young, but you heard me right...more talented than the guys that graduated. We lose Bradley, but the LBs overall will be better, faster, and more talented, particularly if Octavien can avoid injury. The secondary will be head and shoulders better, with Bowman back, the youngsters ready to go, and some serious talent brought in.
