Cant blame the refs. Cant blame kus superior talent. They still had plenty of opportunities and open shots and missed, especially Hoskins. You cant miss that many bunnies and expect to beat ku. They did do a great job of hiding kus superior athleticism, quickness, and size, but blew it at the FT line and easy shots. This game still doesnt hurt though, as long as they take care of buisness.

Martin 5-13 from the field
Harris 4-13
Hoskins 2-15

That's pretty much it in a nutshell.  We weren't bad from the line @ 70% but at 14-20 we couldn't have scored enough to win there if we'd shot 100%.  Lack of shooters, once again, killed us.

The worst part is, they were fairly open shots they were getting. They couldve won this game, but they had an underpar shooting night. This team needs an athletic big guy who can rebound out of his area and block shots from help defense very badly. Thats why I have been talking up Charlie Coley so much. He is exactly what this team needs.

They just seemed lazy under the basket when it came to getting rebounds.  How many times did one of the big UGLIES for GayU rip the rebound out of one of our players hands?

I don't know that lack of shooters was the real problem.  We don't have any kind of inside scoring presence against ku.  Wright is a flat-out horrible match-up for Hoskins.  Wright is athletic enough, strong enough, and long enough, to give Hoskins real problems.  Hoskins had to try to go to the jump shot, and it just wasn't working.

Without someone in the paint that is a scoring threat, ku could really pressure us on the perimeter.  Yeah, we did miss a couple of open jumpers, but they had hands in our faces more times than not.

The team looked a little sped up shooting on the open looks they had tonight.  They've consistently been bad all year when they don't have time to really square up and get off clean shots and they just didn't have that kind of time tonight.  I have to harp on it but this is a game we would have won if we had someone like Hannah to break down the defense and pass back outside to the shooters.  Clent and Dave did OK the few times they took it in but neither ever makes the pass back and the results in the paint weren't too good for them tonight.

Good point, and that has nothing to do with size. They didnt get to enough loose balls either. Those are the things that you have to do to beat a team like ku.

It really pisses me off that Afeli doesnt play more. He isnt that bad, and can actually catch, score, and rebound. Something Colonett struggles with.

you guys don't get it. No one on our team can post up and score from the paint. Except Walker maybe.

I don't think Colon has hands.  I'm serious.  I think he is missing his hands- like his arms end at his wrists.  Every time the dude has a chance to grab a loose ball or rebound, the ball just goes bouncing away from him.  Is there a camp for a guy like Lou?  I can see he's got Tony Kitt-like potential- just needs to harness it.

I don't know that I expect a guy that launched a free throw about a foot to the right of the rim, to provide too much offense.

At least Colon can make uncontested 15 footers.

But the whole, "no hands" thing is right on the money.

Colon and Bennett are standing trees at best.  Neither is a scoring threat...and another reason they lost.

But things should be different next year when the majority of Wooly's guys are gone..

I fully expect a win on saturday and I can see them beating the cowpokes down in Stoolwater.

Your best players are your Seniors. Hahaha....WHITEOUT NEXT YEAR! Might as well give it a try. Anything but that ugly ass purple.

How many all americans does it take to beat KSU by 9? To lose to ORU and DePaul and Tech? Just curious.

Is this guy for real? Thats why this team won the Vegas classic, with Bill Walker. Thats why Bill Walker dominated a very good USC team. Thats why Bill averaged 15 pts and 6 boards a game. You honestly think anyone would take lance harris or akheem wright over him. Give me a f%ckin break.
ONLY senior we will miss is Cartier. That is it. And i'm pretty sure Mike Beasely will be a more than suitable replacement.

Na, he's right. The guy that played in a handful of games and participated in a handful of practices and still managed to look like the best player on the floor can't possibly help us at all. We should all head to the phog and learn such wisdom.

ku's never had two #1 players before, let alone one.  At least you guys have a 4 and 3 star player next year.
