You can really see the impact of all of those management guru books he reads.  He's done a very nice job in reducing the cycle time in blaming assistants and firing everyone to save his own ass.  Uusally you have to have at least one losing season if not a couple before going that route.

"save his own ass."

Save it from what? ...our first winning season in 3 years? ...our first bowl game in three years?

It's obvious he's gong to flop.  Last season was an aberration that looks OK on paper only if you carefuly confine your scrutiny to the W/L record and don't look at the team's actual performance at all.  He's reduced the cycle time by cleaning house before his ass is really on the line.  By doing so he's clearly hoping to shoot right past the traditional firing of the head coach and slip into whatever uncharted territory might lie beyond.

Uh.. who did he "let go" to fit "cleaning house?"  The only person that was let go was the TE coach and the equipment manager.   Morris went back to Tampa Bay for better money.   Washington got a better offer at Mississippi.     Horton went to become OC at Air Force.  Morris and Washington personal issues probably played some role in that. That leaves McGriff, who bolted for Miami, Boustead who is pursuing a graduate degree at Florida, and Shorty, the equipment manager that may have retired, no one is saying anything.   While you can say "Let's just look only at wins and losses and ignore performance" (which BTW, on a coach's resume, the performance isn't so much a big deal as winning games) you can't assume these changes are part of the assumption he's "cleaning house".  If you have error in your first assumption, and make many more based on that first one, you increase the range of your first assumption error exponentially.   In other words, it's wrong to assume something that you can't back up in the first place.

On the other hand, it's nice to see how many people bite on your assumption and carry it across the world.

It's painfully clear to anyone that has read those types of books.  It's also a pathetic sight to watch him regurgitate material from them because you know he's totally reaching for things to say on account of not having developed any thoughts or identity of his own.  I wouldn't cringe the way I sometimes do when he uses phrases like 'fast, efficient, lean organization' if he would just stick to the usual coachspeak instead.

So MJ you know for a fact that the folks who left were not encouraged to leave?  A good executive encourages the deadweight to move on while their reputations are intact thereby allowing them to find equivalent or better positions in competing organizations.  He then pats them on the back and speaks highly of them as they go knowing full well that it is likely that they will be easily replaced and that it is equally likely that they'll damage the competition.  A win/win situation in anyone's book, no?

So yes, it's clear that Prince is cleaning house and unless you're a member fo that staf who is in a position to speak with authority and experience to the contrary that's how it will continue to appear to me.   :D

So what your saying is, your going to refer to the "management books" as the premise for you viewpoint, rather than look at the circumstances as they've been demonstrated?

I can see why you'd ignore the circumstances I posted about the specific individuals as maybe not fitting the reality.

You go ahead, hang onto whatever you want.

    The very best.
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

I knew an angry midget in Korea. She was a prostitute.

She hit my friend in the head with an ashtray once.

He needs to coach at least three years before he can really be judged either way.

The difference between being a genius and a crackpot is success.

Ron Prince = failure.  I'll be stunned if he ever finishes above .500 again.

Oh come on.  Surely we have enough information to label Dan Hawkins a crackpot already.
