Miami Rivals site is reporting on their "wire" (breaking news listing) that "mounting evidence" suggeststs that McGriff is leaving KSU to take a job on the Miami Hurricanes staff.

Wow.

Prince nearly came all over himself when he announced McGriff.  Should be fun to watch the spin on this one.  We could quite possibly get a mass suicide on gopowercat from this.

why would you choose miami over manhattan?

Excellent question.  I mean Miami is basically the same as K-state, except with more talent, nicer weather, higher pay, the beautiful half naked women, the beaches and ocean, and more criminals.  And we all know MCMW.

Damnit Prince.  Can't you compete with that?

I still have some questions about this.  To my knowledge the Miami DB coaches job isn't even open.  Maybe they are going to do some reshuffling of their staff but looking at it now I don't see a place for him on that staff.  They've already got a DB coach who may get promoted to D-cordinator but even then I'd think he'd still work with the DB's.  I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens.

this better be because RP is making room for Shottenheimer(sp?) if true.  If true it is another piece of the puzzle as to whether anyone wants to work for RP.

It has been officially confirmed by Miami...McGriff is gone.

I think McGriff looks bad, professionally speaking....but we look like a big stinking coaching fiasco.

he's the crime dog for god's sake, they need him to help clean up their program and public perception so they are paying him big bones to come there.  What else could it be?

Quick, somebody look up hot DB coaching prosects from I-AA schools in the northeast.

I'm guessing his replacement will come from there.

    IT'S DIVISION ONE FOOTBALL!!!
If he's half the recruiter he was built up to be when we hired him, then this is a pretty major loss.

Especially considering his strong ties to Texas.

Exactly what I was thinking.

My confidential sources indicate that this is the replacement:  http://www.goasu.com/football/coach/163/.  He has all the qualifications, and look at his photo, fer cryin' out loud...how could Prince *not* hire this guy:

    Overkill. It works.
Somebody PLEASE prove to me that Prince isn't running our football program into the ground.  Please give me a little hope.

Mixed emotions suck.  McGriff is a dick for not standing by his commitment to KSU.  At the same time Prince is taking MORE flack for his management style & gaining a reputation as one that nobody wants to work for.  Ok, so where's the silver lining here?  I hope RP can pull a home run out his arse.

The silver lining is that there are only four years left on Prince's contract and he likely won't be here to see it end.

I'm hearing that a big announcement is coming.   This will change the balance of power in the North.

Get ready to start winning the Big 12 on a yearly basis.

"Barely a month after coming to K-State from Baylor, McGriff resigned to pursue a position on the University of Miami staff. When Prince announced McGriff's hiring on Jan. 10, he praised the veteran coach as an outstanding recruiter and teacher and said he would bring "star power" to K-State."
