Is there such a thing? I heard from someone that you don't have conference referees in basketball like you do in football. Is this true?

Not going to blame them.  Every team gets a little home-cookin once in a while.  You have to be able to beat the refs and the home team.  Good teams can do this.  We did not.

I have no clue, but that was a terribly officiated game. We got called for like 7 "holds" You never see that many in a game.
Maric=Durant (in terms of star treatment)
and we got our A$$e$ handed to us   :blindfold:

Mangino-speak:

The Big XII refs just cost the conference a chance at 6 NCAA bids.

Discuss.

That is irrelevant. I wasn't complaining about the refs, I was just wondering if the information that I was given was true or not. Because if it is true, Big 12 refs suck is a horrible chant.

That's a good way of thinking about it.

Maric is good.  But we didn't guard him worth a crap.  That's to blame on Colon and Bennet for bad defense early on, and then later Huggs for playing press the whole night.  You know he watched gamefilm of NU vs MU, and MU is a LOT better at pressing than we are.  And NU destroyed Mizzou.

I was screaming for zone the entire second half.

Ive always felt that the team that hustles more tends to get the calls. NU clearly outworked them tonight.

Oh I dunno.  The fix was definitely in for Knight down in Collie Station tonight.  The last foul of the game was a pure phantom call to put Tech at the line with a chance to seal the deal.  They choked that shot away but stumbled and bumbled their way to a win anyway.  The refs giveth and the refs taketh away.

This was really the first game all year that i thought the Big 12 refs were bad in our opponents favor.  They have been bad at times, but in an inconsistent way that affected both teams

More fodder:

Maric: 15 MADE FT's
KSU: 13 ATTEMPTED FT's

(off the top of my head, but I think it's close to that).

This game was a mirror of the Nu/KSU game in Manhattan.

FT's:
In Manhattan
NU - 5-12
KSU - 26-32
KSU wins 61-45

In Lincoln
NU - 25-38
KSU - 9-13
NU wins 74-63

We just laid an egg.  We looked tired and lazy.

Replying to the original question, I think that the refs are set in certain regions but are not held in the bounds of a conference. I have seen Steve (the big bald ref that pulls up his pants all the time) at Big 12 and Big 10 games. I just think they ref in areas that are semi close to where they live, but I don't really know.

Ding ding ding, we have a winner. We looked like crap tonight, regardless of the officiating.
