Why not just make the move to C-USA until we're good enough to play UT, OU, etc.?

That's not what I'm saying.  What I'm saying is that I'd be more excited if I felt that, right now, we had any shot at winning those games in the near future.  I'm excited that we have convinced multiple quality teams to come to manhattan (whether it's because those teams believe they have a better shot at winning or because we didn't take some of the same stances as BS did).  That makes the home games more fun.  I'd personally rather have one top 15 team a year (home or away) and then play 3 patsies at home in the OOC.

Oregon's last five seasons have been 7-6, 10-2, 5-6, 8-5, 7-6.  WTF?  We can't compete with that?

UCLA has gone 7-6, 10-2, 6-6, and 6-7 over the last 4 years.  Again, we have no chance against these guys?

Beamer will be on his deathbed by the time we play them.

UL will have an inevitible dropoff under Kragthorpe (even though I think they got a good one).

Auburn next year is the only game that you can chalk up as a loss next year.  By 2014 Tubberville will likely be canned for not winning enough SEC titles.

UT was an fluke.  Doesn't mean we are a bad team.  It was like Marshall beating us in '03. 

I'm excited about  KSU playing in those games, but I guess I'm just not as optimistic as you are about the future of KSU football.  Right now, if we were playing all those teams at home (and this is excluding Fresno) I'd say we'd probalby lose.  You obviously disagree with that assessment.

I wouldn't say a single one of those teams we've scheduled are better right now, than Louisville was when we played them.  
If our offense was clicking like they were in the middle of the season, Do you think we would have had a chance at knocking them off?  
I really don't feel like any of these teams are world beaters.  Auburn's clearly the closest, but what did they do last season?  Limp over a team in their bowl game that we all agree is over-rated?

ucla/oregon/miami/fsu none of those teams are all that great right now.  opinions may vary, but ksu and those teams are all in kinda the same boat.

if ksu improves at least as fast as those teams do, we'll be very competitive.

I like the expose obviously, but not if we get killed.  Which I would free for this upcoming Auburn game.  The others there are no way of knowing what the state of the program will be then.

I would have prefered the Auburn game to have been maybe the 3rd or 4th game of the season instead of the 1st.  Just so we could have had some warm up games. 

Either way, I am excited for this game.  The build up will be great, it will make the summer training that much more hyped and critical.  I will also go a head and say we won't get blown out.  Lose by 10-14 maybe, but not get blown out.  It will be a game for atleast a half.

It really is an equal trade-off when considering whether it would be better to play them 1st game or 4th game. Both teams will likely be a little rusty and raw in their first game of the season.  And likewise, I would expect each team to improve over the next several games.

Besides the obvious talent gap between the two teams, I would think the next biggest advantage would be whoever returns the most starters.

i think the scheduling is win-win.

if you are a bad/mediocre team, it would have proven out in the big 12 anyway so you may as well get some exposure and who knows, perhaps it does what louisville did for us this season which was speed up the inevitable turnover of the roster/development of young players which i think propelled us to a bowl game.  (i.e. we roll 4 easy opponents with dylon meier/thomas clayton then start the conf 0-4 instead of pulling that osu game out which saved the season...)

if you are a good/great team you need this game to compete at the highest levels for schedule strength/legitimacy and being ready for the conference.  plus if you do lose a close one, its been proven 1 loss teams can recover from early trip-ups.

As long as RP keeps it to 2 toughies a yr, i'm pretty good with that. As long as he doesnt go gary barnett and schedule every top 5 team in the country then i think its a good thing. LSnyder scheduled cream puffs so we wouldnt get a loss so we can make a run for the NC (in his finest yrs). It will be interesting to see how this all works out.
