You can't be racist and like basketball.
I don't think there's any doubt.

We were absolutely schooled defensively.

Props to the Rug.

It appeared to me that Hairpiece just got out tape from Roy's old teams and told his boys "Run, run, RUN!."

I don't get the idea that this one had anything to do with coaching...

Well, his gameplan didn't work, so yeah.  Self got his guys going and they were able to be a balanced team.  When they hit some outside shots early I was concerned.  Then they got going off the bounce and got shots at the rim.  Then it just snowballed.  Our only hope was to hit a bunch of outside shots and 4-22 obviously says it all there.  We were going to have to keep this game in the 70s or 60s and didn't even come close.

It's called 9 RSCI top 100 players and 5 top 20 playes vs 2 top 100's and 0 top 20's.
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

Who's our second top 100?

Still, they were out-executing, not out-talenting us.

Yep, it's more a case of Wooldridge getting out-recruited more than Hugs getting out-coached.

not as bad as anderson´s 2nd game i think.  anderson destoyed huggins on the picks.

Rusty.  We have some weak Wooldridge players.

These guys aren't the athletes like ku has.

When ku gets nailed at home by A&M and then looks for revenge, we are helpless.

They played their speed game and hit big shots. They didn't against A&M.  We needed to play them two weeks ago.  :flush:

Sorry, I don't buy the fact that Wright, Hoskins, Harris, etc. are so lacking in talent that they can't hold ku to under 55 freaking percent from the field.

They were out of position defensively the ENTIRE GAME.

A few good things can come from this.. They could blow us off when we play them in Bramlage and that could work to our advantage. I would rather have the W at home obviously, than away. This will also bring our guys back down to Earth. My predictions for the rest of the season are..

CU - W
@ CU - W
ku - L
@ NU - W
OU - L
ISU - W
@ OSU - L

hoskins = undersized..picked up fouls..and to rely on a new 3 point game.
everyone else = scared. slow. scared.

Notice one of the first things Huggs said; "when they hit shots they are hard to guard".  ku hit shots early and that opened up our defense and we had to spread out.  When we spread, we were out of position to help, we had to over rotate, and they had guys open.  ku executed very well early and it just kept carrying over when we couldn't hit any shots.  It snowballed, then we had guys mail it in.  It was pretty simple; ku being good then our guys not handling it.  Some of that is coaching, but I'm not sure how much.

Which goes back to what we were talking about in the Maybank thread.  Too many of our Wooly ballers have the lay down and die mentality when the going gets tough.

Tough thought process to break out of.

What did ku really do that was coaching related?  They hit open shots, their guard penetrated the lane, and they rebounded.  It's not like Huggins left his worst free throw shooter in the game in the final seconds.....

Again, let's not overreact here.  Going got plenty tough vs UT, MU, and even Baylor but we didn't cave.  Against a team much more talented than us, yeah, we did.  However, I don't expect it to happen to anyone else left on our schedule, except ku in Manhattan.  This team has not shown a propensity for folding in the last month and I'm going to expect tonight to be the exception.  They might prove me wrong, but we've shown to be plenty tough the past two weeks and this game doesn't override all of that yet.  Let's see how we respond before we paint this team with a broad brush.

they pretty consistently moved the ball towards the basket to engage the help, then had the guy whose man helped cut to the basket.  ksu never managed to rotate over and pick up that cutter.  they also did a good job of setting off ball screens to pick up help trying to get out to the perimeter on jump shots.

They pretty much did what everyone else has been trying to do to us, only they have more talent, collectively, than anyone we've played in the past 7 games and it showed.  The only disparity that I was really taken back by was the rebounding, but that's what happens when you're getting beat to spots which causes the defense to be out of position to rebound.

ut wasn´t doing anything similar.  can´t remember games older than that.

There's the glass half empty prediction but we could very easily go 6-1 in the last 7.

ku has really quick guards and they were a balanced team tonight.  They hit outside shots, they got inside our defense off the dribble, and their bigs got seperation and lay-ups/dunks.  When ku is that balanced they are good.  We just didn't have what it took to guard them.  When we went zone we were able to slow the game down for a while, but we weren't going to ride that to a win tonight.

Hitting 56% from the field, is called being on fire.  Being Taller man for man at almost every position and outrebounding the other team 2-1 isn't good coaching, it's what's supposed to happen.

They were on fire, and played their "A" game which in reality is at least 30 points better if we don't bring ours.  WE missed every open shot.
