It's good to be good again!
Nearly half way through the season and we are tied for 4th.  Win the next 2 and we are no worse than tied for second.  Granted those two are extremely tough games but to even be able to have the chance for that this late in the season is so refreshing.

Kansas State    5-2    16-6
Oklahoma State    4-2    18-3

You know one thing that's great about being in the top four in the league?

You sure don't play many games against teams better than you.

Kind of a neat feeling.

We're one game out of first seven games in.

You would have crap your pants if you knew that would happen in December.

One mark of good teams is they win the games they are supposed to win.  That's the difference between this KSU team and others from the past.  Only the Tech game is one we can look back on and say we probably should've one.  In fact, more often than not this simple fact is the seperator between the bottom and the top of the league.  Then its whether or not you can knock off the 3 or 4 teams at least half the time above you to make a run for a title.  Of course, you already knew that.

i know and i agree that ksu is a lot better, i just see 2 losses to ku, 1 to ut, 1 to osu and 1 more to a north team, which will be 9-7  or middle of the pack big 12 record

Translated to football, KDorks would be beside themselves with excitement.

I think it'll be 10-6, but could see 11-5.

So you beat 4 of the worst teams in the Big 12 not named Colorado, and all of a sudden you're a good team?

considering i picked you guys to finish 5-6 and you most likely will, and ku can and will still beat the snot out of you guys?  why would i be scared.  i have zero reasons to be scared of ksu.  no matter how good you guys get, and and are going to be a ranked team most of next year.  we will still beat you.

shut up. you still have nothing to respond back.  "we"- the school i go to, the school that consistently beats the crap out of yours, the one about to move into the top 5 again after wisconsins loss, the one who is considered along with about 4 other schools, as a title favorite this year- are better than you.  i guess you have never used the term "we" while sitting there watching a game or at a bar.  if you say that you have never said "we suck" when referring to ksu than you are lying.  every fan of any team has at some point in their lives used that expression. tool

    The very best.
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

Take a deep breath there, BullSh$%Hawk.  KSU has beaten bottom feeders, which must be done to be above a bottom feeder.  At this time, the Cats are very likely at least the 2nd best team in the north, according to matchups.  A win over UT and/or ku/OSU on the road, holding serve at home, and the Cats are an NCAA team.  That's generally what is considered a pretty good team and not bad for the first year, given the most talented player on the team got sidelined just as the team was beginning to get used to playing with him.  As for ku, how quickly your fans have forgotten, Roy Williams made you.  Bill Self is a decent coach and a good recruiter.  When the luster wears off (along with the hair glue), Huggs will ascend to his rightful place.  Until then, we await your meltdown.

Yesterday afternoon I felt a sense of excitement, I couldn't wait for last night's game.
It's hard to describe the feeling I had but the best I can do is to say it was similar to how we felt a few years back in the days leading up to a conference football game.  I just couldn't wait for tip off.  As I thought about the game I was so excited to for K-State to be playing a basketball game in late January with something positive on the line to the winner.  ku fans can say what they want about MU being a bad team, but the bottom line is that they are a good team too, a good team who lost by 3 in Lawrence, and had a shot to win that game on the game's last possession.

Today I was thinking about our conference schedule and how, with the exception of our game against Texas Tech, we've been playing the Nortards and how now it's time to face the music against ku, UT, and OSU.  But then I realized there is another side to our scheduling coin...Maybe this is a MAW but this team may actually benefit from having already been through the soft part of the Conference schedule.  This team, with its new coach and its new system needed a chance to gel, to learn Huggyball, and to learn how to win by playing Huggyball and the Nortards were our guinea pigs and victims.  This team now knows how to win, expects to win, and knows what Huggins wants them to do when they're on the court.  Last night they showed me that they refused to lose, they weren't going to let MU beat them, even when Hannah and MU gave them everything they had.  We might not win this game against UT on Saturday but I can guarantee that we won't go down not swinging (Insert Colon Emoticon Here).

It is indeed good to be good again.

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

Well, yeah.  I think KSU was incredibly lucky to get such an easy early season schedule.  I think that our team would be in a world or hurt in the B12 standings if they'd started the B12 schedule with the teams they're about to face.  As it is, those teams have to be a little uneasy about this upstart KSU crew, and hey - our guys basically have nothing to lose.  One win out of these four and beating the lesser teams from there on out, and we've got a tourney spot.  What a great position to be in.  :-D

The interesting thing about bottom feeders is that they have to become bottom feeders and if I remember right that happens when they lose games.  It just happens we've handed out losses to MU (twice), ISU, Baylor, and NU.  If they'd have beat us they might not be bottom feeders.  Someone has to lose as far as I remember and I'm glad its not us.  Now we get to see if we can make a real move in this league.

And as far as schedule, we can only play the games they've given us and so far we've only had one really disappointing loss.  If that trend continues the 2nd half and we can take advantage of opportunities and win 1 or 2 that most really don't expect then we'll surpass most everyone's expectations.  While our early season has been "easy", road games at places like MU and ISU aren't exactly gimmees and we took advantage of those.  Sure, we won three games at home that we should have, but its those road wins that have made the 5-2 more rewarding and really winning those is a major thing that seperates teams that aspire for conference titles and teams that don't.  We've taken a step, now we see if we can take another starting saturday.
