Anyone ever seen the triangle and 2 with a double team from the 2?

I was thinking along these lines using an old "Box & 1".  Clog the middle, but have someone constantly shadow Durant.

I like the Darren Kent idea too.   Just like last night with Hannah in the 2nd halfl, let Durant get his points, just shut everyone else down.  I also wouldn't be surprised if we throw in a defense these next two games that we haven't seen before.

junk defenses only work in high school...everyone is too good to leave alone

You can't be racist and like basketball.
*Except for Majerus and the triangle & 2 that one year.

A Box & 1 with Augustin, Abrams, and James on the perimeter would get ugly.

you obviously didn't see ksu basketball under asbury.

you could leave 4 of 5 starters alone on some of those squads.

Sorry, posted this in the KSU vs. UT thread...Consider this.  Huggins has shown a willingness to shuffle the lineup for matchups.  Harris sucked really badly against MU.  I think he will start with Akeem on Durrant because he doesn't want to risk Hoskins getting in foul trouble.  I also think he may sit Bennon and go with Wright on Durrant, Hoskins on James, Maybank on Mason, Young on Augustine, and Stewart on Abrams.  Huggs will rotate in Martin and Harris and rotate Martin, Hoskins and Wright on Durrant.  When Hoskins is out, we'll probably see Bennon guarding James and slacking off to help with Durrant inside.

We may see some zone, I just don't look for Huggs to start that way.

Just an alternative thought.

Wasn't it Cris Merriweather the one who held Durant to under 10 points in high school?  Or was it Sutton?  Hmmmm...

Iowa St. ran a box and one against ku for about 5 minutes when they beat them in Lawrence.  They had Stinson denying the ball to Langford.

God Bless Wayne Morgan.

Iowa State coaches have traditionally liked junk defenses for some reason.  I seem to remember Floyd and Eustachy throwing some out there as well.  Seems like McDermott isn't a junk guy though.

Merriewether missed much of his senior season at Arlington because of a broken hand. Morgan regarded Merriewether as his team's defensive stopper; Merriewether held Montrose Christian star Kevin Durant, who will play for Texas this winter, to four points in the second half of a 48-36 loss in the Iolani Prep Classic in Honolulu.

One of my friends was sitting next to Bennet's friends at the game and when Bennett came out during the Huggins press conference Bennett said that he held Durant to under 10 in high school and that he would probably guard him.

LOL!

Huggins recruits just have so much damn personality.   Massey was the only Wooldridge recruit with "attitude".

I love the change.

but he's very much an Xs and Os and film study guy as well, picking up opponents tendancies and trying to exploit it.  Many Basketball coaches focus a lot more on what their teams do than the opponents and try to "perfect" it, but I like how Huggs trys to balance that with really figuring out the opponent and taking advantage of that.

great point.  i don´t know that i´ve ever seen a high profile college coach as reactive as huggins.  most coaches with 300+ victories or so fall into the "we just worry about doing what we want to do, i don´t even know who we´re playing" camp.

of course, i never noticed that about huggins before he got here, so i might be completely overlooking a ton of other coaches.

In many ways Huggs coaches with a football coaches mentality.

More than a few, yes.  Heck, he even hired a linebacker to be his S&C coach and as we've seen all season that mentality translates well to the court.  Sometimes the Cats play more like a football team.   :D

Like Snyder?  Evridge was a worthless quarterback.  Nobody can have a "winning attitude" when they lose every game.

floyd was, and is, the king of junk defenses.  probably why mayo chose usc.  he would be fun to play for.
