is a nice change. Its nice to see us be the team winning the battle of the boards 41-19, hitting 22 FTs compared to their 8. Its also nice to see a team that can win in a variety of ways, against a tough defensive minded team like NU, play terrific defense and despite shooting 32% find a way to win. Against a team like MU and Hannah going off on us, find a way to win and hit 49%, 50% from 3, and dish out 17 assists when we needed offense to match MU. Being the tougher team that finds ways to not only win down the stretch, but put games away by maximizing possessions on both ends of the floor is much better than the alternative that we've had to suffer through for years.
I was really impressed with Hoskins and Martin. Martin really took over much of that second half and his effort on the boards was incredible. Plus he was clutch from the FT line. Hoskins was his usual self finding ways to exploit match-ups and somehow score continually in the paint against guys he has no business scoring against.
Great perimeter play and maximizing minutes by Young and Maybank, and Wright continues to thrive under Huggins using his defense and rebounding to its fullest, but also providing some offense when needed much. Even in games where they struggled, Harris still managed 6 assists and Stewart handled MU's pressure as well as possible, both just made some really bad decisions down the stretch that fortunately we were able to overcome.
Colon and Bennett gave us some solid minutes against a team they really don't match up great with, but both continue to show improvement.
And finally once again Huggs is able to throw the zone out a bit to change pace and he continues to be masterful at seemingly throwing it out at just the right times and using it just enough that opponents aren't able to figure it out and exploit it.
Great stretch of Big 12 basketball and now we need to build on it. No worse than 5-3 at the midway point has to reach all of our expectations and hopefully we can find a way to get a road win in these next two.
