Or maybe...just maybe, the Cincinnati Police Department aggresively pursues African-American athletes.

The arrest of Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Johnathan Joseph has members of the team angry, embarrassed and concerned that guilt by association has ruined public perception of the team.

Joseph was arrested early Monday and charged with marijuana possession. He's the ninth member of the team to be arrested since Jan. 1, 2006.

Many people fail to realize that Cincinnati is a very "Southern" city.  This trend may be a symptom of that.

I agree with dax's sarcasm.  The vast majority of K-State fans/alumni/supporters are white Republicans and KSU has one of the most enviable records in all of college sports for supporting black athletes and black students in general.

Anyway, what was the actual conviction rate of the Huggins players that were arrested?  If I recall correctly it was almost none.

I can see how Bengal players are targeted even more aggressively as they are out showing off all the cash they make.

Where's "60 Minutes?"

Luis Colon is a saint.

He won't be when he jackslaps Brandon Rush.   Follow that with a ku loss and we're back on the MCMW train being shoved along by hissy ku fans.

    Overkill. It works.
I bet he wouldn't MISS if he took a swing at you BMW  :D  j/k, don't get all bent out of shape.

No, Colon ain't a saint.  I look at him as an immature, whiny FRESHMAN.  I'm hoping he grows out of some it.  I was under the impression however, that if he ever tried a stunt like that punch again, he'd be off the team for good.  Personally, I think if you whiff on a sucker punch you've got no right to have a 'tude.  Just my .02.

Once again . . . KthUg outrage about an on court incident . . . within weeks of a deadbeat dad thug KthUg b-ball player dragging some chick across the floor.

Just like KSU "sold it's soul" while KthUg sits on PROBATION yet again.

KthUg . . . defining hypocrisy for over 100 years.

Many people fail to realize that Cincinnati is a very "Southern" city.  This trend may be a symptom of that.

Wow - I never would have guessed that, but a little research seems to back up your statement.  Apparently Cincinnati wasn't too eager to accept slaves who fled from Kentucky during the civil war era, and there have been a number of race-related conflicts since then, most recently a major race riot in 2001 (brought on by police killing a black suspect during a footchase).  Apparently most of the city's neighborhoods are highly segregated (then again, what city's neighborhoods aren't highly segregated?).

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Race_relations_of_Cincinnati,_Ohio

1884 - One of the deadliest riots in U.S. history took place. It was started by a White mob in reaction to their anger over a murder trial involving a Black and White (sic?) defendant. 56 people were killed and the city's courthouse was burned down.

This is a very interesting thread, I might add!  Hopefully major media outlets pick up on the same theme and put some pressure on the CPD (if things really are as skewed as they appear).

If things like racial tension or profiling are what determine whether or not a place is considered a Southern city, then most of our Southern cities are located in either the northern half of the United States or the Los Angeles area.  Seriously, did you guys go to college?

I suppose that post is directed at me.  Well, I’m not a liberal that is ranting racist crap.  I have probably voted for more Republicans than Democrats in my life, but the key is that I vote on specific candidates and issues, and not by party affiliation.  And yes, Cincinnati is choked full of Republicans.  There hasn’t been a Democrat win a congressional or state seat in this are for probably 40 or more years.  Even in last November’s Republican bashing each and every congressperson in this area (that’s five of them, all being Republican) won their seats back which truly bucked the trend of the rest of the nation.  The black population in the area will not turn out to vote else this would probably change.  And as far as ‘crackers’, just how do you define the word?  If it means white people that use intimidation and violence to discriminate against blacks, then yes, this area is filled with crackers.  Just ask the several dozen young black kids that the Cincinnati police have gunned down in the last five years.  Whoops, you can’t.  There dead.  And out in lily white Kansas you don’t hear about the ethnic intimidations, the routine profiling, and the non-lethal violence that stems from the Cincinnati Police Department’s treatment of blacks.  Federal judges have put the CPD on court ordered and monitored sanctions to try to improve their race issues, but the CPD has literally ignored it despite the Federal Court system threatening huge fines and other penalties.  As I stated, this is a dangerous place to be a young black kid.
