    Overkill. It works.
Just checked kstatesports.com--no tickets available for the Nebraska game Saturday.  Just checked Stub Hub--same deal.  I hope the people who HAVE tickets use them & don't sit at home.  I F'n want to BE THERE.

You can't be racist and like basketball.
Those Saturday games could be a tough aftermarket for people who pretty much only want free tickets like I do.

Dude, we've been averaging like 4000 no shows a game.  Paying anything more than $0 is dumb.

Have you been to every game?

If you can't make it to any future games, I'll take them off of your hands and ensure your status as a KSU fan will remain in good standing.

No charge.

Actually, its 3333 per game.  We're now at 29999* paid for empty seats on the season.

It doesn't technically work this way b/c there are season tickets and donations and such, but if you go by ticket prices for home games ($15 for OOC, $20 for Big 12); K-State has essentually had $501,030 "donated" to KSU athletics/men's basketball by people who didn't fill a seat.

*not including Washburn.

I'm not looking for free tickets.  I just need 2 tickets, face value.  Apparently some people are content to hoard tickets that they're not using and it pisses me off.  I don't live close enough to Manhattan to justify buying season tickets...plus my job would make it impossible for me to make it to the mid-week games.  I'm just a big fan that's trying to support my team, and I can't get tickets because somebody would rather have their tickets sitting at home, collecting dust.  Its maddening I tells ya!

If you eat any tickets, you'll regret it.  Your fan status will be in question*.

This phenomenon is just going to get worse next year.

Yes, even for good games.

Ok well you do it in 15 degree weather in the snow. K?

What phenomenon?  I think people are going to show up to watch Walker and Beasley.

Also, I think there are going to be more walk-up sales b/c I doubt we sell out season tix with the new required donations.

Yeah, plus I think they'll know better how what to expect and how to handle.  Face it, when you haven't sold more than 6-7K season tickets for a decade, then you suddenly sell 12K+, you probably don't know exactly what you're doing.  I think that was the case this year, but I can't blame them for not expecting to double sales.  The PSLs throw another wrinkle in, but I think they'll be much more equipped to handle it.

Why would a business be more likely to buy tickets and not use them?

    Fear the Brick
I don't think the problem will be businesses buying tickets as much as it will be less people with tickets in hand prior to the game/season.  IMO, the people that are more likely to attend the games are the ones that already have tickets right now (and even those people don't show up consistently); if less people have those tickets then attendance should drop.  I would expect student attendance to rise next year.

Or maybe it means more people go in on sets of tickets and non-student attendance increases because you're opportunities to watch the game are lessened and therefore more valuable.

Great question, but that's the biggest problem right now...that, or a BUNCH of loaded folks in Western KS have seats in Section 5,6, or 7 and don't use them.

Most of the people in the chairbacks already donate at levels that are now "required" I'm guessing.

How do you know that's the biggest problem?  How do you know it isn't people from Topeka or KC or Salina that aren't going to games?

I would think a business is more likely to put tickets to use than your average KC season ticket holder.

Many in the chairback seats blow past new requirements already, so I don't see many of those seats being open, but I bet some will be.

I saw on another site, some guy saying he won't pay the $8K (plus price of ticket) a year it will take to keep both his football and basketball chairbacks (4 each).

I know I sure couldn't afford to blow that kind of coin on chairbacks & season tickets.  But I think what we're seeing now is that the common fans are starting to get cut off from accessing games.  And as a KSU grad & fan that went to basketball & football games religiously when I was a student and even since graduation, its a real bummer because the message I'm getting is "You don't matter anymore."

Can anyone really blame someone for not wanting to "donate" 10 grand to see college games.  Jeezus, that is absurd.

I wondered how many folks out there that have been going to games for years had seats in the 1000 dollar/seat sections for both football and bball.

If you had 4 seats in bball, that were previously covered by your football donation, you just got you tickets bumped up 4 GRAND...

Timmy, I hope you got this right.

Try this.  I've gotten pretty much all of my basketball/football tickets this way.  Always face value or cheaper, keeps people that can't use their tickets from wasting them and keeps me from having to pay insane prices or buy tickets I won't be able to use.
