Yamon Figurs just had an 18-yard run on a reverse play.  I hope the Chiefs take a look at him.  He would be a great replacement for Dante Hall, IMO.

Update:  Figurs just had an incredible TD, but the refs said he stepped out of bounds.  This guy would look GREAT in a Chiefs uniform.

    The very best.
Kansas lucked out he was hurt.
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

18-10 with 4 seconds left.

Figurs just took the kick-off return all the way to the 45 and they added a 15-yard facemask penalty.  Seriously, I want that guy to replace Dante Hall next year.

gee, I bet if Yamon played against ku then the safety would have still been up close the LOS and ku"s often torched freshman corner would not have backed off the line like he did facing our 4.7 40 Danny Gonzalez.  Figurs being hurt didn't matter...ku D = '85 bears.

Hatter... get over it already.

Everyone has injuries.  Freeman's 6 turnovers were inexcusable.  I don't care what your excuse is.

BMW,

Jordy had a bad knee.  Moreira was out.  Figurs was out.

If a defense does not respect a team's ability to stretch the field they will play everybody closer to the LOS.  That determined a lot of what ku could do and what we couldn't do.  Hell, I predicted the week of the game that would be our downfall and that is exactly what happened.  It isn't difficult to figure it out.  ku couldn't shut down anybody all season in pass D and suddenly they can?  LOL.

And Kerry Meier was just as bad in that game only he never had the type of games Freeman had vs. Texas, Colorado, and Okie Lite.  Freeman at least has the potential to carry a team and he will get more consistent and whoa once his OL develops.  Meanwhile Meier had a consistent running game and OL to help him out and...well.  I love our future w/ Freeman.

Hatter...

What did you tell me when I was b*tching and moaning after the 12-3 debacle in '05?  Jason Swanson, our best QB, did not play in that game.  Swanson went on to lead ku to 4 out of 5 wins to end the season.

I'll tell you what you told me: every team has injuries.  I specifically remember you citing K-State's injuries on the o-line.  Guess what... tough luck.  Even though ku had the better season, K-State fans insisted that the head-to-head match-up was the deciding factor in who had the better team.

You can't have it both ways.  If ku had barely won against K-State like you guys did against us in '05, it might be different, but 3 TD's?  Come on.

Meier was working with a bum shoulder all season after that Toledo game.  Despite that, Meier had 13 passing TD's and 10 INT's to go along with 5 rushing TD's.  18 TD's and 10 INT's for a redshirt-freshman, with a QB rating of 123.43 is pretty solid.

Freeman, on the other hand, had 6 passing TD's and 15 INT's to go along with 2 rushing TD's.  8 TD's and 15 INT's with a QB rating of 103.45 isn't even that good for a true freshman.  He also had a lower completion % than Kerry Meier.

Todd Reesing had a QB rating of 145.98.

I love our future with Meier and Reesing.

IIRC it was something like 14-20 going into the 4th, before it got out of control.

A.  Meier will always be hurt, its in the genes.
B.  Reesing had one good game.
C.  Freeman is the better QB, no analyst would ever say either of those two quarterbacks are better than Freeman.  The guy is going to be a star.  ku just got lucky in where they fell into the schedule, with us coming off a hard fought win which cost us a few very key players, and ku coming off a bye week.
D.  One of our missing players happens to be one you want to play for your favorite NFL teams.  If he was one of the stars in the Aloha game then he would have atleast made a difference in the ku game.

Give BMW some credit.....he started a KSU related thread about Yamon Figurs people and was complimentary!  Granted he's got some typical Jayhawkitis, but he's also got some good credible points (sometimes).  Chill out.

BMW, don't go there talking about the QB's.

Meier had 6 of his 13 TD's vs. La-Monroe, Northeastern State, and Toledo.

All of Freeman's starts came against BCS conference competition and he was a true freshman, not a redshirt freshman and he was not surrounded by a ton of experience.  When ku lined up against KSU the beaks had 210 career starts amongst their offensive starters while KSU had under 100 career starts amongst the starting offense.

Freeman threw for more yards per game in his starts than did Meier(205.3 to 156.8).  Freeman threw for a higher completion percentage in his starts than did Meier(57.4 to 56.8).  Freeman threw for more yards per attempt(7.1 to 6.5) and more yards per completion(12.4 to 11.4) in his starts than did Meier.  So the true freshman threw a few more int's vs. a tougher schedule...we're depressed.  Bottom line is that ku didn't have a QB who won three games nearly single handidly the way Freeman did over OSU, CU, and Texas.

Why take a Yamon Figurs when you can get a Sylvester Morris?
