If Tibesar moved to DC, as long as we then hired another special teams coach, I'd be fine with it.  I can't help but see a correlation between our special teams play with a coach directly assigned to special teams, versus a position coach and/or coordinator trying to find time to coach the special teams.

We are going to be sweet when we drop to D-II.

Yeah, Pitt St won't have a chance in hell.  We'll constantly dominate the sunflower showdown.

We might even make a title run!

I'll give Tibesar the benefit of the doubt based on what he did with our special teams.  I know that doesn't necessarily translate into an every defensive play scenario, but it does show IMO an ability to coach at the D1 level.    Plus, he'll be working with guys who have a considerable amount of D1 experience.

Dax- what in your opinion does it take to "coach at the D1 level" ?

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

    The very best.
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

My opinion? All kinds have done it, some well, some not so well.   I think Tibesar is worth a look given that he's shown he's capable of handling one of the 3 segments of the game well on the D1 level, and by all appearances managed another segment of the game well, albeit at a lower level.   If you look at the timeline of MOST young D1 coordinators, you'll see that their history looks very similar to Tibesar's.

Jim Tressel, coached at Youngstown State (very well), but he jumped straight to Ohio State and never looked back.  Who knows??

Sounds like ND missed coach "tibs"

a hard defense to run at this level because of a couple key positions that you need a rare athlete at.  Probaly the most important on the line is the nose tackle.  You need an absolute ferocious beast in there.  A guy about 6'2-6'3 310-325 pounds or more.   Not only a run stopper but a real drain clogger.  A guy that requires a minimum of a double team on every play, and then you need to have a backup for him.  On the end position you need to have some stout defensive ends.  You don't need adam carriker types but guys in a simiilair mold to that.

Nebraska was actually going ot do the 3-4 this year but we had some injuries really early on to some key linebackers that killed that, but the plan is set, still in motion and I think they are going to give it another shot.  We beleive we have a couple very stout nose tackles to get it done

I would tend to think that special teams, more than offense or defense, would rely primarily on playmakers and much less on schemes.  If you want to give Tibs the benefit of the doubt, fine, but don't do it based on the performance of special teams because that's a real stretch.
Once you get past the ethics, the rest is easy.

I hope it's not a 3-4.  I mean, I can see why you could get the necessary athletes to come to North Dakota... but there's no way we can get guys for that defense way down here in kansas....   :jerkoff:
