    The very best.
I didn't want to post it, but we returned pretty much our entire defense from the 2005 squad, and there wasn't too much improvement. The end of the year performance was embarrassing, and the Rush defense was painful.

We allowed 3.5 YPC in 2005, and 4.4 in 2006. Who did we lose from the front 7? George?? Teddy Sims??
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

Cover 2 is the dumbest defense ever.

    I miss him ^^
Hate to disagree but.......I'm gonna disagree.

The cover 2 is designed to bend not break.  If you look at the numbers......ya we are giving up almost a whole yard more per carry this year than last year but we are also giving up 5 points less per game.  27.7 ppg in 2005 compared to 22.7 in 2006.  And how many short fields did our defense get stuck with this year due to an inept offense for most of the year?  Add to the fact that we played almost half the year without our leader on defense (Watts) and 3/4 of the year without our starting CB.  All that for a first year defensive coordinator teaching a defense that no one has had any experience with.  I would say hell of a job.

So I am a Raheem fan.

You can't have bend but don't break defenses in college football (particularly) unless you're offense is a quick strike offense.

To me the Tampa 2 is just that, and unless you've got a monster pass rush all the time and LB's that absolutely dominate the running game and not get blown up all the time (like this year for example) you can easily get schemed to death, and never touch the football.

Remember how easily Rutgers converted 3rd and long situations because all they did was run down field, find a (huge) hole in the secondary and sit.

With a lock down corner style of defense, you can easily walk people up against the running game and force people to pass the football.

It really hurt when moran got hurt, and echols.  One of the most important aspects of the cover 2 is getting pressure up the middle so the qb can't step up.  We didn't have that at the end of the year.  Without the pressure, any zone defense will be easily exploited even by an average qb.

When you're locking down at the corner, you can bring more blitzes.

    Fear the Brick
The Cover 2 is based on having a dominant D-Line.  Not just DE's and not just DT's, but the entire line.  The Bears defense can handle losing Mike Brown, but not Tommie Harris.  And since we aren't recruiting any DT, it doesn't look like our pathetic run defense is going to change, unless you believe that Kendall and Crews are going to be All Big 12 in their RS-FR years.  Moran and Cline are average at best.  We also have to replace our top 2 tacklers at LB.

we definately have good enough corners to play our old style of football.  baldwin, moore, garvin, and mckinney when he's not making a dumbass mistake are all very good in coverage.

Yeah... now that Raheem is most likely going back to the NFL, I don't like him either.

What happened to all the "" you had for Raheem Fatty?  Is it the player or is it the coaches?  We've known that we had very little returning on defense this year; is that Raheem's fault?
