Pulled into town and went straight to the pep rally. The band played and cheerleaders cheered for about 30-35 minutes before it finally got started. Wyatt brought out a couple brief speakers and read the gov's letter. Snyder got several big applause. The Texas Bowl prez sounded pretty impressed with the size of the crowd. Showed a new, cool video of highlights from before, during and after the texas game. Expect it on inside K-State sports soon. The team hadn't yet arrived by that point, so the band played some more. Ended up being another 15 min or so. The crowd was starting to get antsy by that time. When they finally arrived, they walked around the arena (the size of a rodeo arena) and tossed out t-shirts while the band played Wildcat Victory about 20 times in a row.
When they finally got seated, Sen. Roberts came out to speak. Funny, but long-winded. Then Wefald spoke, and spoke, and spoke, and spoke. After just a few minutes you could tell the crowd was wanting him to get it over with. Then he started talking about how K-Staters are great Americans. Got a derisive cheer when he said he was saying one last thing. Then he must have remembered he hadn't yet mentioned our Rhodes, Marshall, etc scholars and all of our national scholastic rankings yet. Finally, he brought out Weiser, who shared that he had gotten a kiss from Wefald after the texas game. That was a little awkward.
Showed the train video (with Rutgers helmet destruction) because the players never get to see it at the games.
Weiser presented Prince with the game ball from his first game. Then FINALLY Prince got up to speak. Talked about his reasoning for selecting players to carry the flags onto the field. Then gave several players a brief opportunity to speak.
Then, after 3 hours, it was over. ugh...
I'd post a couple pics but I forgot my camera download cable at home. Will have some when I get home.
Looks like Rutgers brought a decent crowd, but it will definitely be a KSU weighted crowd.
A guy asked me jokingly how they let all us Cats into texas after what we did to the whorns. Told him we snuck across the southern border because it was easier.

HoustonCat...Good call on Poppasitos. Good stuff. I'm really full now.
