The Gator Bowl is considering whether it wants Texas or West Virginia for its Jan. 1 game. Problem is, Gator officials aren't expected to make that determination until after West Virginia plays Rutgers on Saturday.

That means K-State (7-5) and others must wait.

Technically, this holdup began last week when Texas A&M upset Texas and Oklahoma (10-2) earned a spot in the Big 12 championship game by winning the South. That prevented Gator officials from inviting the Sooners to play in Jacksonville, Fla., and also stopped the rest of the league's bowl dominoes from beginning to fall.

If the Gator Bowl selects West Virginia -- a scenario that seems increasingly possible should the Mountaineers win -- Alamo Bowl spokesman Rick Hill said the Alamo Bowl gladly would take Texas (9-3). That would bump teams such as K-State, Missouri (8-4) and Texas Tech (7-5) down a notch in the Big 12 bowl lineup.

The Sun Bowl then would pick a Big 12 team, and Missouri (8-4) likely would get the nod because it defeated both K-State and Tech this season.

With Missouri in the Sun Bowl at El Paso, K-State and Tech would vie for other bowls, most likely in the Insight and Texas.

However, if the Gator Bowl chooses Texas rather than West Virginia, Alamo officials would consider K-State, Tech and Missouri, which climbed back into Alamo consideration with its 42-17 win over Kansas.

As recently as last week, K-State and Tech were the front-runners to meet Iowa (6-6) in the Alamo. Now, who knows?

Hill said all three schools are intriguing and that officials are soliciting local feedback to determine which team would most excite area football fans.

A case can be made for all three. For instance, Tech's high-powered offense always is a big draw, and Missouri quarterback Chase Daniel might be an even bigger attraction because he is a Texan coming off a career-high 356-yard, four-touchdown performance against ku.

Then there's K-State, which hasn't been to the postseason in two years.

The Wildcats feature a first-year coach in Ron Prince and a fan base that has a reputation for flocking to bowl destinations.

That certainly can't hurt the Wildcats' cause. But until the Gator Bowl situation plays out, it's too soon to know whether K-State, Missouri or Texas Tech will be considered for the Alamo.

So we want Texas in the Gator Bowl!  :hope:

UL was in the Gator last year, so many think they'd rather go with the Big 12 team.

Plus there is a shot for Louisville to be a BCS team even if Rutgers wins.  They should finish at least #5 in the BCS rankings.

Fox sports is predicting that if RU looses, they would drop all the way to the International Bowl????????? The Big East sucks worse than the Big 12 for bowl tie ins.
