Holy crap indeed. I'm jealous. Chizik is stoopesque sexy.
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

Not a good comparison at all.  It's not all that impressive anyway.  Chizik is about as risky as any candidate.

i'm not too concerned though, at least compared to what other schools are thinking of huggins.  recruits choose texas because of the prestige of being a longhorn, not for the coaches.  this will boost their recruiting though.  hopefully he doesn't steal anybody from us (unless it's drinkgern, the liberty &@#%s, roepke, or adonis thomas)

It's pefect for Iowa State. Their fans will be juiced.

ku should be the ones pissed. They are stuck with Mangino.

Its a very good hire, but hardly a Huggins-esque hire.  Butch Davis would've been a Huggins-esque hire.

It's also a total shocker. That Jamie Pollard is a sly one.

Um.....I hate to burst your bubble but the real hire is Brian Kelly of Central Michigan. If I were you I'd find out who your sources are and fire them.

True, I was expecting the CMU guy.

The source is the ISU rivals site. http://iowastate.rivals.com/default.asp

I think perhaps a more accurate title to this thread is "ISU just got their Mike Stoops".

I'm watching the presser now. I'm friggin jealous. Chizik is friggin impressive. Sounds like a pit stop for him. Avoided the long term stay question. Some dude just passed out during the "presser:

Makes you wonder if Weiser even talked to the guy to see if he was interested.  Clearly more qualified than Prince was.  Prince may turn out fine but the pathetic performance against ku doesn't bode well for his long term prospects.  And I'm guessing Chisik won't be signing a bunch of stiff high school o-linemen and a pack of 5' 7" speedsters.

No **($!!!  Where did you hear that?  If true that actually makes me feel better. I can live with the Prince hire knowing we tried for other guys first (Leavitt, Beilema, etc).

Uh...did you pay much attention to KSU football this season?  Prince went 7-5 and has our team going to a bowl game.  Why the negativity?  If nothing else, Prince has proven that he's competent.

Yeah, I was at the ku game.  Getting piss pounded by those punks in a year they suck is completely unacceptable.

Actually, they probably got their Mangino.

He's ridden nice gigs in great situations at Auburn and UT to this job.

Now we'll see if it was him, or the situation.

How UT gave up 45 points to KSU is beyond me, having seen the KSU offense up close and personal. Especially given the talent level of that team.

I'm not calling it a good or bad hire. I would wait a few. But it is curious that he took a job right out of the box at a place that is very difficult to recruit to, and is considered the number two school in the state, when there are other much better jobs open.

It tells me he thought this is the best he can get. And if so, it probably isn't that great a hire.

Reminds of people talking crap on Princes offense at UVA.  I think it is pretty much irrelevant.
