    The very best.
Frosh QB, Frosh RB, Frosh/Soph O-line, Rookie HC, Rookie HC,DC,OC.

Big 12 coaches initial season, with the previous two. Difference in conference record

KSU:
Ron Prince 7-5 (4-4), 2-6, 2-6 +2
ku: Mark Mangino 2-10 (0-8),1-7, 2-6 -1.5
Iowa State: Dan McCarney 3-8 (1-6) 0-7, 2-5 0
Nebraska: Bill Callahan 5-6 (3-5) 5-3, 4-4 -1.5
Colorado: Dan Hawkins 2-9 (2-5), 5-3, 4-4 -2.5
Missouri: Gary Pinkel 4-7 (3-5), 2-6, 1-7 +1.5

Oklahoma: Bob Stoops 7-5 (5-3), 2-6, 3-5 +2.5
Oklahoma State: Mike Gundy 4-7 (1-7) 4-4, 5-3 -3.5
Texas: Mack Brown 9-3 (6-2) 2-6, 5-3 +2.5
Texas A&M: Dennis Franchione 4-8 (2-6) 3-5, 4-4 -1.5
Baylor: Guy Morris 3-9 (1-7) 1-7, 0-8 +.5
Texas Tech: Mike Leach 7-6 (3-5) 5-3, 4-4 -1.5

Overall
1)Stoops: +2.5
1)Brown: +2.5
3)Prince: +2
4)Pinkel +1.5
5)Morris: +.5
6)McCarney: 0
7)Callahan: -1.5
7)Franchione: -1.5
7)Leach:-1.5
7)Mangino:-1.5
11)Hawkins:-2.5
12)Gundy: -3.5

Overall (minus prince results) -5 (Therefore the average for a first year coach was half a loss)

Qualified for a bowl in season 1:
Brown, Leach, Prince, Stoops

Finished with a .500 record in season 1:
Brown, Stoops, Prince

Finished above .500 in season 1:
Brown, Stoops

Now, is this is the end-all for evaluating coach Prince? No. It's not a perfect indicator, but when you're in the same class as Mack Brown and Bob Stoops, it's nice to look at. The negatives that get lost in this post are that Stoops and Brown dominated teams in their 1st years, and lost a few close games (especially Stoops..seriously look closer at his 99' season. It was obvious he was going to be a kick-ass coach.) Prince outside of ISU, and CU won a few lucky ones and wasn't very close in any of the losses.
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

What's scary is I did most of this simply from memory. If only there were a big 12 football class offered at KSU.

I know a random non-athlete that enrolled in that class and received a strongly written letter from the athletic department basically telling him to never &@#% with the AD again.

Someone needs to be my pointman on...... "the upcoming 91.9 Sports Show that breaks all the boundaries! Football X's and O's!  Insightful commentary!  Basketball Breakdowns!  Around-the-League fastbreaks!  Sportscenter breaking updates on the 15 and 45 of every hour!  And of course the Stat-Man Fatty!"

Should we call it The Jail-Break Screen or This Week in Bold and Daring?

That's funny.  I thought of doing that once, but never had the balls to try it.  I'd love to read the letter!!

Nice post fatty.

Who'd have ever thought there would be a board where fatty and Rusty were the voices of reason. :)
