That was a great game and great moment, BUT part of me really doesn't like seeing that either.  I have no problem with rushing the field for that moment, but I'd like to get back to the point where a win over the #4 team in the country DOESN'T warrant rushing the field.

We've never been at the point where beating the #4 team in the country didn't warrant rushing the field.
I don't know if that point exists.

I said it in another thread, but it bears repeating:

Rushing the field/court is a lot more fun than "acting like you've been there."

I know this from experience.

Man, that was fun. Wish the goalposts would have came down, though.

Screw that.
I was in school when we were #1, I'd have taken the field after a win like Saturday night's too then.

True, we really haven't been there.  Were close in 2000, but we still came out on the field after the NU win.  I suppose not many programs get to the point where they wouldn't rush the field with a win over a Top 5 team.

    Fear the Brick
I talked about this before the game when some of my friends and I were discussing the possibility of beating Texas and if the students would rush the field.  Before the game (and at halftime) I thought it'd be cool if everyone just went crazy but didn't rush the field.........but then when Jordy caught that ball...and then Freeman took a knee... and the players started rushing the field...and the students stormed the field...and my wife and I started rushing the field with all the other alumni.....and then as I stood on the field I thought how stupid it would have been if I and the rest of the crowd had stayed in the stands just so we could act like we'd  been there.  After the past two season,s taking things for granted and acting like we've been there is overrated.

an unranked team beating the #4 team warrants rushing the field.

now, if we were top 10, maybe not so much.

it was a great moment.

That's dead on, nice perspective CZ.

Yeah, I'm not questioning it at the moment and catzacker was right on.  But if we get to the point where we don't do it, that probably means a couple more Big 12 titles and maybe a NC.  That's way down the road, satuday night was definately a night for the fans to come onto the field.

Even then, I'd like to rush the field.  The underdog role is so much fun and has a so much energy.

Exactly.
We as KSU fans are a very passionate fanbase and imo it'd be lamer of us to be of sitting on our hands and pretending we "are used to it" the celebrating a win with our team on the field.

If we have indestructible goalposts, why do they bother trying to keep people off of them?  We should run out there and jump on them after every game and clap for the team as they go to the locker room.

Maybe we could bring some popcorn and watch a movie on the jumbotron.

I think we damaged the goalposts.  They were crooked.

    IT'S DIVISION ONE FOOTBALL!!!
I thought it was stupid to rush the field. Texas' ego is big enough already. That's exactly what they want if they get beaten.

We'd have a big ego as defending National Champs and after winning 20 straight B12 games too.

    The very best.
It would have been physically impossible not to rush the field after that incredible game.

45-42! 12 touchdowns! breaking a 21 game conference streak! 1st north loss since 1999! Texas!

It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

    shame on you, non-believers
Why does everyone care so damn much about the f'ing goalposts? It's a huge mob of mostly drunk college kids having a great time. Being that the majority of those college kids is male, crap is going to get destroyed, and goalposts have traditionally played the role of victim in big football games.

"Acting like you've been there" = snobbish and boring.
"Acting like you haven't been there" = why K-State fans travel so well and make so much noise.

Texas had a big ego back when John Mackovic was their coach and they sucked ass. The fact that their name is spelled T E X A S fuels their ego.

I bet if Ohio State wins against Michigan, they will rush the field. Just a hunch though... Louisville rushed after they beat WV and after Miami.

Okay, I take back all I said about rushing the field.  Any win over Top 5 = rushing the field for almost anyone.  I'm good with that. :)
