Ditto Kansas State head coach Ron Prince, who locked up Big 12 Coach of the Year honors in his first season in Manhattan with Saturday’s shocking upset of No. 4 Texas. Prince has the Wildcats 7-4 and playing at a level that was expected in 2007 or 2008, despite breaking in true freshman QB Josh Freeman and a ton of underclassmen on both sides of the ball. He might have been a curious choice to replace Bill Snyder a year ago, but right now the hiring of Prince away from Virginia looks like a stroke of genius.
In college football, the end zone dive when no one is within three yards has become about as useless as the head first dive into first base in baseball. Leaps across the goal line can sometimes be perceived as showboating and unnecessarily increase the risk of injuries and fumbles. Someone please make it stop.
