We needed to come out of that zone we sucked in it and they just burried shot after shot. Then what is the play on offense get Denis the ball and get out of his way and if he pass give it back to him. Finally if we want to go far in the turnament our Coach has to take his had out of his ass and play Rodney and  Wally alot more. Luis and Chris enough said its the end of the year and our freshmen arent used to having consistent playing time. So we needed them today in the hardest place to win and they showed there talent but if they had played more before now no telling how much more they could have helped us today and in the tournament. With that I say thanks Coach for giving us a good season but in big games what are you doing besides Yelling

Boy.  You're kind of a &@#%ing idiot.  The only thing that kept the game respectable was the zone.

Give it another 20 years of good basketball and you may start to catch on.  What are you, TP's brother?  Dumbass.

Nope.  That's the beauty about the interweb; you can chime in as you want.  Fact is, Terry Pierce is a &@#%ing idiot.  Always ahas been and that was confirmed with the mass exodus around here.  The only ones left standing are the true d'bags of Riley C.

you call me an idiot and you think the zone kept us in the game wow. I will not respond to dumb people that have no Bball IQ. if you tell me what the hell was the plan on offense I would like to hear it youcan win with defense but when you play a good team you have to have strategy also and you have to have the ability to change during the game when the things you worked on isn't working. we need to set more screens for the guards and do it with out them asking for it this is game 29 come on now. and finally why is he so stubborn and unwilling to discipline Denis he is out of control he does whatever he wants he never tell him to slow it down and be patient. you want an example end of 1st half why did he take a wild as runner with 15sec left on the clock we needed to run the clock down and run a play my bad we have no plays but get denis the ball and get out the way

What were the alternatives to running zone, given our foul trouble?

Denis played exactly like Frank wants him to play last night.  If you want "slow down and be patient", you will never be pleased with Frank's philosophy.

Our guards ran through screens on a regular basis last night.  Its hard to have balance when your best two offensive bigs are in foul trouble and finish with 8 points and 7 boards.

This.  We dug our own grave early.  With our early foul trouble running a zone was the only way we could keep applying pressure on the post.  It was a risk.  ku hit their 3's and exploited it.

what I do know is that if the zone your in is not working as a coach you should have another option. maybe a box and one  or a match up zone similar to what they played on us. and if you want to run you have to be willing to pass the ball more and have the ball move around  more to make the other team play defense. when your struggling offensively you cant put Luis and Chris in the game they offer you nothing on the offensive end. when it comes to our bigs three people cant be on the blocks somebody has to come out on the wings. I never said they didn't set screens I said the guards shouldn't have to ask for a screen at the top of the key. Frank is a good coach but his ties to Denis is going to be the demise of the team he needs to reel him in some times. like he does pullen, kelly, jamar, and dom be a coach and be critical of eveyone cause hes not helping Denis.

He did try other options.

We changed from 3-2 to 2-3 to a 1-3-1/1-2-2 token pressure look.

Frank has never run a box and one or match-up zone, he's not going to draw that up on the sideline or put it in during a game.

He went with what he knew, and the zone was the only option once we got in foul trouble.  His hope was probably to keep the thing close until the under 8 TO, but they went on a spurt before we got there.

Offense had some issues, but again I think foul trouble and ku's excellent pressure defense had more to do with that than an ineffective plan.  The last 13-15 minutes we just couldn't hit shots.

And I'll agree to disagree on Denis.  He'll be missed next year.

I tend to agree that we had to run a zone b/c of our foul trouble.  I thought our defense still played aggressive but they started hitting the long ball.  Offensively I would have liked to have seen our Bigs hit that open high post shot from time to time.  When going down low we weren't getting the foul calls.  I knew it was going to be a tough game on Senior night In Lawrence.  We played pretty well for periods of the game but we've got to find ways to exploit the defense they showed us last night.  Hopefully we can see some magic in the BIG 12 Championship :bballonlyfan:

If we had not switched to the Zone last night Frank Martin and Delonte Hill would have had to suit up to finish the game for us.  Hard to believe that we would have gotten beat worse than we did had we stayed in Man to Man, but I have no doubts we would have.  Kelly and Samuels would have been better off not checking into the game to save them the walk back to the bench after fouling out with the way the refs were calling it last night.

As for Clemente, I am not a big fan of his playing style sometimes, but he was one of if not the best player we had out there last night.  He was making things happen and while he runs around out of control sometimes, most of the time it's due to the fact that no one else is moving at ALL!  I wish Clemente played better defense, but either way, he will be missed next year.  You could say Pullen was our best player out there but he had some key moments where he gave the momentum right back to ku.  The pass he threw to Denis, I mean Collins, after Judge made a nice block on the back board absolutely killed us.  Turned a nice defensive stop and chance to gain momentum into a Clemente foul, nearly Intentional, and the start of another ku run.  Then the shot clock violation and letting Aldrich play "hey, you throw it up and I'll block your shot into the stands" were typical.

Why Colon was out there so much, I have no idea.  I would have benched him after he gave up the ball in the high post in back to back offensive series to start the game.  He looked like a turtle out there.  Where was Jordan at?  He had played great in the past few games and looked to be coming around only to get the Wally Judge and Rodney McGruder treatment?  Made no sense to me.  Was nice to see Judge and Rodney get the chance to show up last night.  They were the bright spots in a forgettable and frustrating game.  Glad now that it wasn't on national TV like we all were hoping and wondering why it wasn't.

:users: TP is not to blame for people leaving. How about a massive email campaign filled with made up stories about me selling the site to theshiver.com as reason #1. What are you doing posting over here, when there is clearly another place to go post. Oh I get it, you are one of those loser types who follows "elite posters." Which by the way is a made up by people who probably look like pointdexters and have no friends. On a rival website you can't even think for yourself. Be an alpha...
