• Rhodes on list: ku has started recruiting Bennie Rhodes, a 6-6, 210-pound wing from Mt. Zion Academy in Durham, N.C. Rhodes, who is not ranked nationally, originally hails from Oakland, Calif.

Mt. Zion coach Antonio Fozard said ku coach Self will be in Durham today to watch a workout of Rhodes, who also is hearing from UCLA and Oklahoma State.

“He is athletic like Brandon (Rush). He can jump and consistently hit the mid-range jumper. He also runs well and defends,” Fozard told rivals.com. “I don’t think he is as good as Brandon, but he is a lot like him.”

Fozard coached Rush a year at Mt. Zion.

Hate to burst a bubble - guess this will get me permanently on the bad guys list - but go back and check what they writing about Tracy McGrady before he burst on the summer scene before his junior year. No one knew who he was. He went to one of those camps, ABCD I think, and killed. Ended up at Mt. Zion.

I'm not saying this kid is T-Mac, but sometimes, the recruiting gurus make mistakes. Or simply don't know.

Sounds a lot closer to Delivez Yearby than Tracy McGrady...although Yearby did appear on a mythical Bob Gibbons Top 100 list.

C'mon, Jeffrey.  We all know that the guy must have some talent if Self is willing to give him a scholly over Tyrel Reed.  It's just a great opportunity to use the vaunted "star ratings" to drive ku fans nuts.  Those jokers teased us about Pullen and Brown mainly b/c they were 3-star guys they'd never heard of, so it's only fair.  It's almost too easy to get under feathered skin with this subject, really.  To understand our glee, I guess you may have to suffer through a few more years of bleating from obnoxious ku hoops fans.
