SO I'm going to be starting a petition online about this.  I would like people's input on structure, grammar, spelling, content.

We are a group of Kansas State students, alumni and fans who want winning basketball to stay at Kansas State University.  We love having a winning atmosphere around our University and want to make sure that it stays here for the foreseeable future.  We are willing to continue our support of our University through our diverse resources to make sure we can all have a program we can love.

We can understand hesitancy to make a new contract based on recent events at Kansas State.  We were concerned about secret deals that were not transparent to the people who supported the University.  We are willing to do what it takes to keep winners on the sidelines.  Winners who take pleasure in being here at Kansas State.   We want winning coaches who shape our student athletes into prosperous citizens on and off the court.  We have seen the return of winning on the court that Kansas State was famous for under Gardner, Winter and, Hartman all under the direction of Frank Martin.  We do not want to toil in the middle of the pack in a competitive Big 12.  Frank has shown that he can be a respected leader in this conference.  We do not want our President and Athletics Director explaining to national media how we let another winning coach get away.

We want Frank to stay here at Kansas State.

We want Frank Martin to stay here not only because of the success on the court, but because of how much he has grown to be apart of OUR family.  We want this to happen now.  We want the administration to show the same support of Frank Martin that the students show the team every night in Bramlage Coliseum, the same support our Alumni show the Ahearn Fund and the same support the Manhattan community shows Kansas State.

We are a group of Kansas State students, alumni and fans who want winning basketball to stay at Kansas State University.  We love having a winning atmosphere around our university and want to make sure that it stays here for the foreseeable future.  We are willing to continue supporting our university through our diverse resources on the condition that a genuine and generous effort is made by the athletic department to retain Frank Martin and his assistants.

We can understand hesitancy to make a new contract based on recent events at Kansas State.  We were concerned about secret deals that were not transparent to the people who supported the university.  We are willing to do what it takes to keep winners on the sidelines -- winners who take pleasure in being here at Kansas State, which Frank Martin does.   We want winning coaches who shape our student athletes into prosperous citizens on and off the court.  With Frank Martin and his staff, we have seen the return of winning on the court that Kansas State was famous for under coaches Gardner, Winter, and Hartman.  We grew tired of toiling in the middle of the pack in a competitive Big 12, and to not offer Frank Martin the compensation it takes to keep him here is likely to return us to those middle-of-the-pack finishes.  Frank has shown that he can be a respected leader in this conference.  We do not want our President and Athletics Director explaining to national media how we let another winning coach get away.

We want Frank to stay here at Kansas State.

We want Frank Martin to stay here not only because of the success on the court, but because of how much he has grown to be a part of OUR family.  We want this to happen now.  We want the administration to show the same support to Frank Martin that the students show the team every night in Bramlage Coliseum, the same support our Alumni show the Ahearn Fund, and the same support the Manhattan community shows Kansas State.

What I dropped in there right now was mostly just grammatical/spelling stuff with a few surface ideas thrown in.  I'll delve more into the actual ideas after my day TEACHING HIGH SCHOOL ENGLISH IS OVER.   8-)

Good work.  A few recommendations.......

We are a group of Kansas State students, alumni and fans who want winning basketball to stay at Kansas State University.  We appreciate the winning tradition that has returned to our University and want to ensure that it stays here for the foreseeable future.  We are willing to continue our support to our University and increase our financial committment to ensure the strength of the program we all care deeply about.

We understand cautiousness in regard to contract negotiations based on recent events at Kansas State attributed to the prior administration.  We are concerned about transparency and our reputation.  We are ultimately willing to do what it takes to keep winners on the sidelines, and do it the right way.  Winners who love coaching at Kansas State, respect out proud tradition, and who are firmly invested in the continued success of our program.   We want winning coaches who shape our student athletes on and off the court.  We have endured the better part of two decades of dormancy, where we witnessed one the great basketball program traditions in all of college basketball reduced to a shell of its former self due to apathy and failed administrative comittment.  This mediocrity is unacceptable and we will not allow that to occur again.  We have seen the return of winning on the court that Kansas State was famous for under Gardner, Winter and, Hartman all under the direction of Frank Martin.  Coach Martin has shown that he is a respected leader in this conference and will continue the excellence for years to come based on his track record and his rapidly growing list of historical accomplishments that he has accumulated in a short period of time.

We want Frank to stay here at Kansas State.

We want Frank Martin to stay here not only because of the success on the court, but because of how much he has grown to be a part of OUR family.  He has proven his value as one of the top coaches in this conference and should rewarded with commensurate compensation.  We demand the administration show the same support and commitment to Frank Martin that the students show the team every night in Bramlage Coliseum, the same support our Alumni show the Ahearn Fund and the same support the Manhattan community shows Kansas State.

The undersigned,

I wondered how the board would feel about the lack of money talk in my OP.  Would you want the petition to be about money and compensation or a general feel of compensation with references to the Ahearn fund?

I'd sign any of the above, and also sign a bunch of dead peoples names to it as well.

By the way, I haven't been able to make many games, but do they always play Andrew W. K. now?  Was appropriate to play as we were pulling away at the end.  Way better than the pregame Nickleback & AC/DC.
