More in one live blog than Kellis has given in his lifetime.

Bramlage Coliseum was juiced the moment doors opened to let in charging students.

Seventy minutes before tip off, Wildcats guard Jacob Pullen came up for early shooting in a fake beard -- the students went nuts.

About 10 minutes later, ESPN analyst Bob Knight emerged to students chanting his name. He responded with raised arms, prompting more cheers.
Kansas State players rewarded fans with a pre-game dunk fest with Wally Judge’s efforts scoring the loudest cheers.

Texas players retreated to the locker room with arms raised in a hook ‘em horn gesture to a chorus of boos.

The Longhorns broadcaster Craig Way remembered fearing for his broadcast and health the last time K-State beat Texas in Manhattan. It was 2004, the Longhorns were ranked 10th, lost 58-48 and students rushed the floor.

I told him this season is different, that the Wildcats are now used to success and students might not rush the floor if K-State wins. Then we agreed anybody sitting between the students and the floor at the end of a Wildcats victory better take cover.

I ran into Kansas State athletic director Jon Currie, who reminded me that he had something to do with Tennessee’s victory over top-ranked Kansas last week. He helped schedule the game as the Vols’ executive associate athletic director along with ku’s Larry Keating.

The Wildcats are still working on next year’s non-conference schedule but they’ll have a large presence in Kansas City. Besides playing in the CBE Classic with Duke, Marquette and Gonzaga, K-State will meet UNLV at Sprint Center.

Maybe he can schedule a home/home or KC/Nashville series with the Vols
