You'll know we've really arrived when they just start calling it "DOOM," it's like not needing a last name.  That's when you know you're big time.

Less chance of the making it on TV...and it will give me something to shoot for should I bump into the gameday crew before the uk game.

Just to further drive the "angry" point home, I think you should probably bump into them really hard and mutter several curses under your breath.

Stealing seems kinda uk-ish to me.  Probably better just shove that highlighter up Digger's ass.

I'm thinkin on a national level the whole "Octagon of Doom" thing may sound a little juvenile or stupid or something.  The word "doom" is a little....I don't know tardish.  I don't think it has any staying power.  Its something a fanbase which wasn't in it for the long haul would come up with.  Thoughts?

I appreciate the invite!  The only problem w/ that is the three syllables.  It doesn't flow off the pallet.  But I'll work on it for awhile.

I kinda just like calling it Bramlage.  IDK.  Maybe "The Fred" or "The Bram."  Its gonna take some time.  I've got to work some things out.

By the way, today is the 3rd anniversary for the name Octagon of Doom.  Pretty cool that from humble beginnings it has grown to become a nationally recognized name.

Just so you know, over at powertard land they are sort of get all warm in their naughty regions for the name, opining on what brilliant mamba jamba came up with it, and another has stepped up and credited this site.  Not sure if that last bit will turn the tide or not.

Could this be the warm and sloppy moment where the fans on this board and those on that board all find a mutual love and respect for one another and    :beerchug:

Probably not, but I'll just

(The question is which Rodney King moment is this?)

Should probably start having some sort of commemorative party.

I used to think that was a good idea, but then I found this page:

http://www.terraserver.com/samples_sports_ncaab.asp

It has aerial photos of 91 NCAA basketball arenas, including Bramlage. 18 of these arenas are octagons. Assuming this is a random sample, this means that almost 1 in 5 NCAA basketball arenas are in fact octagons. At the very least, Bramlage is not unique in its shape. Suddenly, "The Octagon" doesn't seem like such a good nickname.

"Octagon of Doom" is marginally better, as it differentiates Bramlage as the only octagon where you will almost assuredly meet your doom. Okay, it's a little cheesy, but now that it's picking up steam, it will be tough to change it.

I'll try anyway. Might I suggest, THE CAGE

It's short, catchy and ominous-sounding. It evokes MMA, which is often fought in octagonal cages. It conveys the idea that once you step inside THE CAGE, you're in for a serious pounding. It also could mean that THE CAGE is where rabid Wildcats may be found, so you better be prepared if you're going to get inside.
