Ditto,

I just got back from India and jet lag is killing me.

Silver lining; coming into work early and firing off some e-mails makes me look like I am working hard, sort of.

What type of insomnia we talking? Pills don't always help. When it's caused by the dreams...that's the worst (IMO).

lol.

Started when I was 20 or so. Sex (and other deviant pursuits) haven't helped (haven't hurt...) You get sleepy. But you fear sleep. Crazy crap, bro.

As a kid, I remember reading about arrested athletes doing hundreds of push-ups and sit-ups in jail after being arrested just so they could sleep at night. Freakin' BS. Every set of sit-ups is like a cup of coffee that makes you feel awake and also terrible.

Use it to your advantage to get rich?  Work 20 hour days?  Only sleep when you have to?  Seems like you have a dream life and you are "complaining" about it here to rub it in  :curse:

This. Insomnia has been great for my career/BBS post count. I just quit fighting it. Like most things, you get used to it over time.

I sleep from about 11/12 to 5. Tough for me to sleep more than 6. If I wake up and it's already light outside, I feel all weird. Like everyone is ahead of me and spent all morning plotting my demise or something.

Sounds like a little in-depth psychiatric help is in order. How do you feel about your mother?

 But you fear sleep.

You have to recognize the irrationality of your own thought processes. You expose yourself to what you think is uncomfortable. Eventually what you think 'sucks' becomes a non-issue in that you don't think about it anymore.

Of course this is much easier said than done. I've had generalized anxiety disorder since I was around 16.
I'm telling you, this is not ANYTHING like the team from the beginning of conference play. You will see no more blowouts like what happened in OOC.  If we lose, it will not because these kids gave up, and it will be at the buzzer. -Rodless, before 97-70

Light plays a part.

If you use a computer late at night then it affects the brain.

Yep. Feel great after 4-5 hrs of sleep. Still feel fine after only 3-4. That's why I quit worrying about it. I just started going to work around 5-6 am. It's awesome. No traffic coming or going, because I'm 3 hrs ahead of everyone (and traffic is unreal on the DC beltway). No lines at the grocery store, no waiting on dozens of middle-aged fat women who don't understand how to lose weight and just sit on machines at the gym.

Word.

They are unbearable and, ultimately, will be the demise of mankind.

I hate hate hate "self inflicted" fat women, love me the ones guilty by association because they have been like that all there lives and are still nice and non-bitter.

Back on topic, when I can't sleep I usually rub one or 2 out and then I am out like a baby but it can hurt me when it's game time because I am accustomed to sleeping right after.

I sleep from 9/930 til 545 sometimes fall asleep sooner.  I kinda go through bouts of it when I can't fall asleep.  Its terrible because if I lie awake for more that about 30 minutes i start having a panic attack and then i'm screwed.

Used to be similar. Quit panicking. Just quit "trying" to sleep. I was like "WTF? Why am I &@#%ing trying to sleep? I got crap I could do."

Self medicating yourself could involve mass quantities of Nyquil. As for friends....... ....Every EMAW's a friend.l

Couldn't sleep at all last night. I think I finally did get like an hour so i'm obviously still tired as balls. Now I get to look forward to napping after my 8 and 9:30 classes!
