I went to a funeral today for a friend of mine that I grew up with - went all through grade school and high-school in the same small town.  He was a rabid K-State fan his entire 33 years of life - I really do not think I ever met  bigger one - he blew my EMAWness away.  Anyway, after college, he stayed in Manhattan and eventually got a job with the athletic dept. as an IT Specialist.
After the funeral, when people were shuffling out of the small Baptist Church in little Eudora, Kansas, my wife and I spotted Coach and Sean Snyder, they were seated on the other side of the church.  With all of the talk and publicity today about dirtbag coaches treating players like crap or cheating like crazy, I feel blessed and lucky to have this man representing my university.  The fact that he traveled 2 hours for a funeral of an emplyee of the athletic department says so much about the type of person I have always known he was.

I just wanted to post this so some of you who enjoy badmouthing coach or calling him immature names might think twice about who this man is and what he means to true K-State fans.

Did you go to the CSU game?  There was a moment of silence for him.

No, I did not go to the CSU game, but I had heard that from mutual friends.  I was glad to hear it.

Should have told him to hit the recruiting trail or that he would be next.

if i ever die, i'd want martin to get a recruit, not waste time in some one tractor town church.
"these are no longer “games” in the commonly accepted sense of the term. these are free throw shooting contests leavened by the occasional sprint to the other end of the floor."

I'm pretty sure I won't ever die either. Something to do with a stone that a Nicolas Flamel gave me once.

When Corn Husker player Blake Lawrence had to give up football this year because of concussions Coach Snyder took the time to write to him and wish him the best as he moved on passed football.

He is about as classy as any man could be and there will never be another like him. He is special.

That's only part of the story.  Bill also stated in the letter that Blake was being punished by God as a result of Blake's choice to go to NU.   I just hope the kid learns from this.

I'm sure Blake will still cherish his bowl game experiences as a Husker. Would have sucked to miss out on those.

True that I hear he looked at the letter and asked who the frack is Bill Snyder?
