Koening and Snyder have never seen eye to eye when it comes to off the field stuff. Snyder has commented he's going to continue with his style of recruiting, and waiting until the end of the HS SR.'s senior season before offering. Koening doesn't see that as working, and so he's looking elsewhere. And while he went to Kansas State, he wasn't here during the Snyder era, so there really isn't the 'loyalty' per se that you may find or think.

That's just what I've heard from people around the water cooler that are somewhat in the know.  Koening is much more 'aggressive' in recruiting, and since Snyder isn't, Koening wants to do something different.  :ksu: :ksu:

Adaptation is a b!tch, Snyder. Of these two philosophies, I'd say I like VicK's better.

Is Tibs available?

Yes.  His name is Chris Cosh.

Cosh is more Bob Elliot.  Not as bad as tibs.  But definate bend but don't break philosophy.  Not as creative as the 4-2-5.

Hey, stormy, remember those Chris Cosh defenses of 2004 and 2005 that paved the way for our back to back last place finishes to cap OB's career the first time?

You know, those ones that only averaged 32 points a game in conference play.....

I'm assuming you do realize this is the same Chris Cosh.

to be fair Cosh wasn't calling D.  But he was coaching up Matt Butler and Marvin Simmons.

The reason we're backed into a fracking corner with no scholarships right fracking now is because of the offer early mentality.  Not saying I"m completely comfortable with the old way, but I sure as hell don't like being stuck in this situation.

What a load of $hit. One check of any recruiting site will prove that this isn't true. We're pretty much full on scholarships right now. I suspect he left for 2x paycheck rather than an alleged disagreement on when to offer scholarships.

Why? $$$$$$$$$. Question, how many of you wouldn't take a 200+K raise? I would myself. From what I have read he will make 470K at Illionis and he made 265K last year at KSU for doing the same job.

Same old story, Bill/or KSU won't pony up to keep good coaches.

Yea I thought the Vaniers set up a fund to pay coaches well. 260K doesn't get it anymore for high quality coordinators. I have a problem with head coach salaries, why do they make several million per year at colleges? Many/most of them state funded, and yet expect their top assitants to make 260K? The whole system is broken IMO, but then again it isn't going to change either.

I think if a coach wants to make several million per year then they should be in the professional sports. Seems like every year when season ticket renewals come up and ticket prices go up as well I think of saying &%%^ you but then again I always renew so I guess I am part of the problem.

there was an interesting post on phog re. this.  no idea if the poster is correct (i guess i thought asst coaches were normally 1 year contracts?), but he seems confident, intelligent and attractive.

Quote
This may sound weird, but coordinator jobs with a coach on the hot seat are very attractive jobs, and it's because most assistant contracts are 2 year deals.  The typical timeline for a coach about to get fired is to get brand new coordinators his last season in desparation, still not meet standards, and get fired.  If that coach gets fired, coordinators usually get let go while still being under contract.  Coordinators walk away with 2 years of salary for 1 year of work.
"these are no longer “games” in the commonly accepted sense of the term. these are free throw shooting contests leavened by the occasional sprint to the other end of the floor."

Vic seems like a tard.  Make up your damn mind and get the &@#% out of Manhattan, KS.   You're wife obviously wears the pants in the family.  Good luck in your endeavors of being an average, team-hopping Defensive Coordinator.
