ku just separated themselves...  (12 votes)
....from the rest of the Big 12. ku is the only program in the conference with a black head coach. This is huge, folks. Sumlin was my #1 choice, but the more I read about Gill, the more this hire makes sense. Besides Nebraska, all of the programs in the North are pretty even. Gill gives ku a competitive advantage. The guy demands discipline and hard work, and he gets his players to run through walls for him. For those that don't like the hire, all I ask is that you give Gill a chance. When all is said and done, I have a feeling that ku might have the best basketball coach/football coach combo in the country.

ou & KSU has hired black coaches prviously. No garanteee it will help you in recruiting. TF is a solid hire IMO. Not a homerun like Harbaugh would have been but not a horrible hire either.

Gill might be pretty good.

The guy did alright at Buffalo, but I can't put a lot into all this talk about where they were before he got there . . . because the MAC simply doesn't have any super powers in it, and it it seems like teams are up and down in that conference like a yo-yo.

The Coordinators look to be pretty good, but I personally have never been that impressed with Carl Torbush.   I remember the A&M fans really b_tching about him when he was the DC for Fran.   His first year under Fran at A*M their defense gave up 465 points, they improved the next year, but fell back considerably the next year and I think Fran was forced to fire him.  He couldn't get a D1 job for 2 years after that, and Miss. St. D was decent this year, but not great.

Didn't Ben say the same thing about Mangino/Self . . . being the best coaching combo in the country.

he says that about everything, and occasionally he is right like 07.  Then it empowers him to say really redic things like ku's 2nd team is better than ksu's first etc.
