I think there are some very big differences. 
First, GP escaped because our President was determined to undermine his incompetent AD.
Second, as far as we know, KSU was not turned down by any of their potential candidates.
Third, for anybody to be so stupid to claim the above inferring Snyd's was ran out vs MM; is bewildering.
