seriously?
http://www.kansascity.com/385/story/1618752.htmlAnother new name has surfaced relating to the Kansas football head coach opening: Minnesota coach Tim Brewster.
Minnesota athletic director Joel Maturi addressed speculation of Brewster being interested in the ku job with the St. Paul Pioneer Press on Tuesday, saying he “can’t guarantee” Brewster will return next season. Maturi said he spoke with Brewster but didn’t ask him directly about the ku opening. Maturi said he had not been contacted by ku athletic director Lew Perkins, but that didn’t seem to surprise him.
“I’m smart enough to know that (Brewster’s) not going to tell me; nor is the athletic director at Kansas going to tell me until it’s a done deal,” Maturi said. “I chatted with (Brewster) about it very, very briefly. I told him I’m getting tired of all these Kansas calls. I know how the game is played. I know how it is. I’m respectful of that. I’m not going to believe the rumors until they’re fact.”
Under Brewster, the Golden Gophers have gone 14-23 the last three seasons. They have made the Insight Bowl in back-to-back seasons. Last year, Kansas beat Minnesota 42-21 in the Insight Bowl; this year, Minnesota faces Iowa State.
Brewster spent 2002-04 coaching the tight ends for the San Diego Chargers and 2005-06 in the same role with the Denver Broncos. His only connection to the Big 12 is the four seasons he spent coaching the Texas tight ends from 1998-2001.
Brewster reportedly makes a salary of $1 million.
