    Fear the Brick
If there's anything that our bigs need to do it's rebound better.

ku gets 31.2ppg from X and Sharon…..KSU gets 33.3ppg from Jake and Denis.
ku's top 3 bigs (Cole and the M Twins) get 29.7ppg but also get 21.7 rpg…..KSU gets 27.3 ppg from Kelly, Jamar, Wally but only 16.2rpg.

And I'll go ahead and assume more rpg will prolly mean a little more ppg for the bigs and a little less ppg for the guards.

So, I stopped reading this thread about halfway through to ask: why are people expecting us to perform consistently at the beginning of December? Do we not know the drill yet? We'll be a far better team a month from now than we are today. Simply a fact of life.

Now that's how you get out a f***ing blood stain.
mcmwcat absolutely embarassing people here.
like shooting fish

it's a problem when you rely on undersized streaky shooting guards to carry your offense from beyond the 3 pt line.
sad ... lots of freakishly gigantic post men who really want to be guards think this way.

it's terrible. especially clemente and his total lack of lateral quickness. but the title of this topic doesn't have the word defense in it.

don't worry about the title of the topic, you haven't made one salient point specific to our offense yet in this thread, no reason to focus on it now.  sounds like you have our perimeter defense locked in.  any thoughts on our interior passing?

But who on this team has what it takes to be a go-to, crunch time, down by 1 with 10 ticks offensive guy? I feel like Kelly is the only one with that potential.

Much as I hate to say it, I feel like Jake struggles to create his own shot inside the arc in the halfcourt set. Especially in conference, his barreling toward the basket style usually results in a swat or a no-call as he becomes a skid mark on the OOD floor.

We won 22 games last year using only streaky shooters, no CK no WJ. What is the problem here? Scoring from those two will come. Lets see how tonight plays out with our bigs then we can panic.

Ok I will say it again, Ill slow it down this time. That was without relevent bigs at all. Are you saying DK and Colon will fare better in the big 12 then CK an improved JS and WJ. I personally don't see it. Plus we didn't make the tourney last year because of win count. We didnt get in because of RPI and big wins. We already have wins against Dayton and Wash State with an RPI ranked 10th right now.

Like so many other things with KSU basketball these days, it's not so much that they're good as that they're not as retarted as their predecessors.

And I'll say again like I said there: that's false. Our interior passing is good, not just better than our crap teams.

Allow yourselves to BELIEVE, people.

I'm firmly in the balanced scoring camp, it gives opponents more people to worry about, and not that I have any statistics, but it seems like a guy who scores 10 pts a game is more likely to go off for 20+ than a guy that scores 5 points a game. I'd rather have 4 guys like that than 2.

59 points from guards
36 points from forwards

Not bad at all, it just is "out of wack" (not in a bad way) b/c we had a ridic night from Jake and more than average from Clemente, but 36 from our forwards is acceptable.  When this happens it just means we are going to win big, and we did.

But if we can get 35+ from the forwards, that's a pretty good move toward balance.  I think expecting 40 or so from the guards is reasonable, and 75 will win us most games.

Yeah, Pullen obviously had an unconscious night from the field.  But, that crap happens.  But, even if he had an average night, going 3-10 (3pt) with 16 points, we still win that game.

We may not be perfect, but our offense looks better every time we take the floor.  The attack is become more balanced.  Slowly but surely.

Hopefully, the trend continues into big xii play.

I still think balanced scoring is for losers and 'clams.  Leave the balanced scoring for crapty teams like 'olorado and 'NLV.  JMO.

The amount of open looks that Den-ney and Jake got were incredible and frankly off a simple little screen  or simple ball rotation in most cases . . . if they're going to get that many open looks they need to fire away and make shots, it's not difficult.

Couple that with the fact that they ran the break possibly better than any K-State team I've ever seen, then got some great slashes to the bucket from Dom . . . when they play like that they can potentially score in any matter of ways.    Lets face it, Dom is outstanding when he's gets the ball with a little space between himself and the rack, he's got long arms, he can jump, he's physical and guys don't want to get in his way when he's got some momentum behind him.
