Reports that it's Houston Nutt to ku.

Nutt is 127-79 (supposedly related to Self, a cousin or something).

Best record at a BCS conference school 10-4.

Had a disappointing year at Ole Miss, they came into the season ranked but finished the year 8-4 with a loss at Miss. State to end the regular season, will be playing in the Cotton Bowl.

Beat it out of town at Arkansas in 2007 for Ole Miss.

Supposedly Nutt and the Ole Miss AD don't like each other.

    The very best.
fantastic hire, by the hawks.
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

He did the exact same thing people were already grumbling about Mangino for. He feasted on the SEC's few weaklings, while posting a God-awful record against the conference's best teams. And Arkansas has far more natural advantages to it from a program standpoint than does Kansas.

If we hire Nutt, you can expect the following:

        * One win you wouldn't have expected at the start of the year.
        * At least one loss you wouldn't have expected at the start of the year.
        * A declining trend in recruiting, and gaping holes all over the field because of it.

And that's just a start. I won't even get into his ******** in dealing with the fans, his athletic department and the media.

People read far, far too much into Arkansas' top 10 finish a few years back. The best players on that team were almost exclusively kids who were going to be Razorbacks no matter what. It's one of the built-in advantages I mentioned earlier. And the innovative offense that everyone loved to praise was the work of Gus Malzahn, who Nutt then forced out in a jealous rage after a single season.

If this were to come to pass, I would just be sick. It would never be harder for me to cheer for the football team, and I live for ku football Saturdays. I'm as die-hard as they come.

    Dammit.

Houston has had his share of PR issues.

But he may see the handwritting on the wall, he's never going to get over the hump in the SEC.  In 12 years of SEC coaching he made 1 SEC championship game and lost, and never played in any of what are now the BCS bowls.   Maybe he thinks the Big 12 North will be easier, and of course, right now, it is.

It sounds like the same guys that might have reported Bill Self to Arkansas ( ) so I'm kinda thinking this is probably bs.

Well, LSU and 'Bama have never been stronger, and Petrino looks like he'll get Arkansas going again, and Auburn looked well coach at the beginning of the year...so the SEC West is stacked against him.  Add to that the notion that his cross-state rival is about to get the best QB recruit in the country and you have a real ugly situation at Ole Miss.

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

Best part about this, if true, is that Nutt turned down the NU job and then takes the ku gig.  ku fans, go rub that in their faces a lot and junk.

    Hey, basketball!!!
Nutt would be a great pick-up by ku (really the only candidate I am afraid of other then Harbaugh & Sumlin), which in all reality, they don't have a shot of landing any of those three....

Why would Nutt ever leave the South? If he wanted out of Ole Miss then I would expect to hear his name with Louisville...a much, much better fit for him and his recruiting base.

The fact that Old Balls basically went 0-fer on basically every recruit that we competed against him for while at Arkansas makes it a pretty damn good hire in itself.

3 division titles and 10 bowls in 12 years out of the SEC.

kudos if Sweet Lew gets this done.

but it would likely signal that he is in some sort of trouble at Ole Miss, possibly even with the NCAA, perhaps over his 38 scholarship deal last year.  No reasonable person goes from Ole Miss to Kansas and thinks it is a step in the right direction.
