Here's how the 5 former KSU mbb coaches who are currently coaching another mbb team are doing this year.

Tom Asbury (Pepperdine) 3-2 Losses to UCLA, Wyoming
Lon Kruger (UNLV) Ranked #21/24  5-0 Wins against Nevada, Louisville
Dana Altman (Creighton) 2-4 Losses to Dayton, Xavier
Jim Wooldridge (UC-Riverside) 3-2 Losses to New Mexico, USC
Bob Huggins (West Virginia) Ranked #7/8 5-0 Win against TX A&M

Combined record: 18-10

Is there any other team in college basketball with 5 or more former coaches now coaching another team?

I didnt realize Huggs has them in the top ten. They get elite talent? or just good drunk/coaching?

I checked out the recruiting that he has done the past few years and he has been able to pull in plenty of 4 star recruits, plus I think the drunker he gets, the better he coaches.

Simple; Huggs is a ridiculously good coach who has recruited well at West Virginia*.

Watched Huggins' team dismantle Portland yesterday.
Martin should watch for pointers on how to attack a zone: swing the ball quickly from side to side to get defenders out of position before passing or dribbling into the middle.

yeah. this works well in 2k10.
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

Quick question: Did K-state pursue Bill Guthridge in 2000.

You can't be racist and like basketball.
When you really think about it, it's kind of crazy that our last five coaches are all active D1 head coaches.

Elite Wildcat fans know that Huggs didn't drink that cheap  Johnny Walker Red crap, he went with the Blue Label.

Huggs could get talented players anywhere...and if he didn't, he would get mediocre talent to play harder than anyone else and still win. The guy is underrated, as a coach, not as an alcoholic...

Would you rather I use the term "underappreciated"? Even though he gets lots of praise, I don't think people realize that he is probably a top 5 coach in the nation when you consider the total package that he brings in building a program. If they did, and I hate saying this, he would have had better offers than Kansas State when he landed in Manhattan.

People don't think he sucks, and I'm not saying this, they just don't give him the respect he deserves, IMO...

JMHO, it has very little to do with what anyone thinks of his ability to coach and recruit and everything to do with how he is percieved, especially in regard to the types of players he has chosen to recruit and a few issues he has had off the court.  In fact its pretty easy to argue the ONLY reason he came to K-State was b/c of those issues and that were willing to give him that "2nd chance".  Of course, that was until his alma mater decided they were willing to do it as well.

he gets all the respect he deserves, because he doesn't deserve much respect. he's a self aggrandizing boob of a human being.  people are well aware that huggins can coach, and more importantly, recruit.  they don't want the rest of the sh*t that comes with him, that's why he was subject to a 1 year sentence in MHK.  no other reason.

It wasn't "It's Floyd" as much as it was "It's Hoops Dream Team"...sold as not only Floyd, but Blackman and some guy named Wooldridge as assistants.  I so remember LOLing over that!  In fact, wasn't Winter involved in that whole scenario as well?  Been so long, old age and excessive drinking is getting to me.

True, it is all about perception and this is why he was left w/ us as his job after being fired at Cincinnati.

True, he is self-aggrandizing, but this may actually help him in his profession.

He gave guys chances at Cincy that big programs passed on due to character questions. He did this out of necessity to start because he inherited a garbage program upon arrival. Most of these guys came and went with little consequence off the court. A few turned out to have serious problems. Huggs cannot be blamed for off the court matters (other than his own, which is where he deserves the criticism). A big part of his negative perception was due to his players off the court actions. This is where I think he gets a bad wrap. The on-the court criticism that is warranted is his tendency to get knocked off by an underdog in the tournament.

Off the top of my head - coaches I'd rather have run my program than Huggins:

Izzo, Calhoun, Boeheim, Krzyzewski all others are arguably at his level or below, in my opinion.
