Maybe I should've have compared Diggins to Johnny Williams.

Thornton is good.

Ongenaet is #113.

Evans (oddly) not ranked?

That could be.  He is pretty much a 1 year JUCO player though.

The rule of thumb on comparing both prep school and JUCO players to the high school kids ratings is to multiply by 5 (because there are about five times as many high school players than preps or JUCOs), so by that standard Thornton would be top 40, which is certainly a keeper, but Ongenaet would be in the 500+ range, which doesn’t seem to be a player that could contribute much...

Interestomg that Dom Tilford(#39) and DeAndre Coleman(#60) are there, they are both former Huggs recruits who played at UC last year and transfered out. Tilford was real nice player, and was tearing up the summer league this year in Cincinnati before transfering out. Coleman has talent, but he also has attitude problems.

Snart, I doubt Huggs is going after Obganeet because he feels he is the highest ranked prospect he can get. He obviously sees something in him that he likes considering he is looking to offer him in the Spring.

I didn't know we were recruiting the former Arkansas coach - Nolan Richardson (#33). Not sure I've heard of Nate Brumfield (#47), Bobby Clark (#49) or Jimmy Allen (#58). I think I have heard of Marcus Thornton (#8) and Kristof Ongenaet (#113).

It's his son.

Grandson actually.  Nolan IV.  Son of Nolan III, who got fired a couple years ago after going to his car to get a gun after an argument with an assistant coach about what time practice started on Christmas night after only 4 players showed for practice.  Nolan III also made an appearance in Bramlage Wooly's first year, losing an overtime thriller to the Cats.

Yeah.  Remember when I was on the Nolan Richardson bandwagon?

Good times.  :)

Yeah, who could forget those discussions about the similarities/differences between Manhattan and Fayetteville. :)

And the game vs TSU didn't go to overtime, but it was awefully close.  I remember Nolan (III) complaining about the refs afterwards.  Ah, the days of 3-4K fans in the stands.

I had a test that night...listened to the end on the radio.

Did Phineas "Tony" hit the game winner?

No, we actually kind of pulled away down the stretch (just looked it up).  TSU led by 10 in the 2nd half though.

Less than a month later we would give up a 15 point halftime lead and lose to Western Carolina.
