no franking way I'm getting out of bed at 4am to go shopping for useless Christmas crap. I'm willing to pay more to put off my Christmas shopping till December 23rd-24th.

Working overnights at Wal-Mart, I get the privilege of taking part of Black Friday for the first time this year...have never bothered shopping during the sales before, so now I get to see all the people who degenerate to beasts at the site of an opportunity to save money. Keep hearing about the dude who got trampled to death last year, so we have all sorts of preparatory procedures and stuff to keep people from viciously murdering us.

Most people weren't scary/ridiculous. Way too many people asking where certain items were (Wal-Mart is huge, and all of our sale stuff wasn't there the day before, so the majority of us didn't know where anything was).  Pretty sweet, tbh, did some quick stocking then after lunch I stood next to a few pallets of toys and stuff for 3 hours to make sure nobody took any of it until 5. Then spent much of the next two hours watching people rush around and try to fit through the crowd with their carts. Pretty much impossible for managers to keep track of us individually with that many people there, so we snuck back to the break room for a while. Had to stay late because they decided that the pallets that had all of the sale items had to be spaced out more, which sucked.

Didn't buy anything, some decent stuff was still available but I didn't really check out prices on stuff like TVs since I don't really need to buy any for myself/others

Agreed.  I was checking out some of the doorbuster deal ads.  Just out of curiosity, I looked for the item on the internet.  In most cases, I was still able to find better deals at Amazon, etc.

Yeah it needed to be spaced out more in some places, but I don't understand why the same managers who had us move it all didn't do it that way when they set it up at the beginning of the night. It's not like it's the first year they've done this crap.

It was for the big ticket items. I was lucky to be the last to get a ticket for the $398 HP laptop. Walmart sucks, IMO.

Nebraska Furniture Mart had Wii's advertised for $179, coming with no games.  This week they're on sale anyway for $185 for a savings of $6.  I can go over to Best Buy and get one with the basic Wii Sports for $199 without getting up at some ungodly hour and getting into a fight with someone who's baby's gotta have one and have one right now!

I went over to home depot at 3 pm and picked up an air compressor and nail gun for about half the price as normal. Not bad.

The only thing good about black friday is reading stories in the paper the next day about people that punch and kill each other to save 4 dollars.
