i was at a wedding in mexico last spring and boy did i feel out of place without a guayabera. so, i returned home and began an exhaustive internets search for one that would fit me.  couldn't find one for tall people.

i really wanted one of the authentics with the four mango pockets on the front.  elite.

yeah, abnormally tall people really seem to be out of luck here. i have seen some for tall people, but never with more then like one or two pockets. is it glandular?

but i was in the presence of guayabera elites. one 4 pocket guy and one guy had his hand made in venezuala.  another got his in some small village outside of Tijuana.   anywho.  i'm not abnormally tall.  problem is with fat people, they're too big.

hand made in venezuala? wow. would love to meet up and swap guayabera stories over a couple of dark and stormy's w/ that guy.

i almost bought one in malecon area of pv but had a hard time making up my mind on which one i wanted. kid in a candy store. eventually didn't get any of them. oh well, you know what they say...a bad day of guayabera shopping is better than a good day at the office.

my guess is that the most elite is a four pocket, 100% linen,  slightly tan or off white shirt. .







i personally like the whites better and don't mind a two pocket or even no pocket guayabera type shirt.

i personally like the whites better and don't mind a two pocket or even no pocket guayabera type shirt.

uber elites wear 4 pocket linen, in light blue or white, very important to have the vertical embroidery and front/back tail as well. 

would prefer to have flat bottom and not curved, but that's just an imo.

yeah flat bottom is the elite. lets people know you mean business and are very serious about guayaberas and the wearing of guayaberas.

light blues are also very elite.

I also have some super secret polyester ones from the 70's.  Very wide lapels.
