and a good ass chewing appear to be what's going to get Mangino Fired.

Schaad (sp??) was just on ESPN, and was saying this all started with an "incident" out at CU in the walk thru when a player laughed (pss . . . most coaches are pretty uptight during Friday walk-thru's on the road) . . .and Mangino "poked" the kid in the shoulder and chew his a$$.

Apparently same kid has had daddy come down out of the stands to the field in Lawrence and "coach" him during games several time . . . and that obviously pi$$ed Mangino off as well.

LOL . . . so the first winning coach at ku in 60 years is going to get canned because of an FP and his helicoptor parent daddy.

yeah it's pretty weak and I think ku is going to get backlash over this.  Perkins saw a chance to get rid of Mangino and hire his own guy but I figured he had more ammo then a finger poke and some curse words.   I'm not a Mangino fan but the guy has done nothing different this year then he has in the past.

Most of the stuff that is coming out now is from years ago and I'm sure ku covered it up when it happend.  ku fans I work with you used to deny the stories about Mangino cheating on his recruiting test and today they were citing that as one example of why he should be fired.  It's also kind of funny how these parking ticket stories are just now getting out.

ku just needs to suck it up and say they want him fired because he's fat.

    I survived the Dickey/Parrish era.
When have we ever seen a zero-tolerance policy enforced in Lawrence?

Memorial Stadium will be renamed the Mark Mangino Monolith in the next 10 years.

I'd say Lew's going to have to come up with a lot more, and there may very well be a lot more stuff . . . but if that's all there is, every good coach with a half a brain is going to have to take that into strong consideration if ku comes calling.

The parking ticket story getting out . . . as of right now this is all building into a twig house case to run Mangino out.   Also, it looks like Lew's being so vindictive on this, he's trying to get out of having to pay a tiny little buyout . . . myself and others should consider ourselves prophets for trying to explain to the resident squawktards just how much Lew hates Mangino.   Where are those "cigar" stories now??

It is common knowledge that Perkins has never liked mangino and from the way this thing has gone down he has been waiting for a long time to this, the timing is horrible for the ku fb program. I always hear of what a genius lew is but if he were really smart he would have been working behind the scene and not brought all this dirt out in public. Firing a coach during the season is always a bad idea. Firing a coach that was national COY less than 2 years ago also bad idea. Like mangino or hate him, the guy deserved better than this from ku, I can't think this fiasco is going to be a positive for the coaching search. Seems like a 12-1 followed by an 8-5 season would have bought him more than 3/4 of a year at ku considering their football history.

This is really odd.

There has to be something more going on.  Big donor I heard from last night said that Lew told the big donors in St. Louis that Mangino was out, and has already started trying to raise money....though I don't know if that's for a new coach, the possible buyout, or both.

LOLLERS!

Favorite part, from the June 14th 2007 email...

Quote
Sean Lester and Lew Perkins have been very supportive of us in this incident -  they're not saying it out loud but I know that they've dealt with Coach Mangino's anger issues in the past and they're encouraging me to take whatever action I'd normally take in an instance like this.

LOLLERS!  Lew has been cooking this sucker up for a LONG time.

anyone else remember the sideline video after that kid ran back a punt/kick off and got a personal foul for diving into the endzone for his celebration?  Ahhhh good times.  Really went after that kid.  "what the &@#% did you do!?!?!" over and over and over.
Be a winner today
