Would be HUGE for ku.

BTW, you are of the opinion that Mangino is gone, correct?

Great hire if they get that done.  I'm so f^cking jealous that ku gets to have a legit coaching search run by people who aren't old and who don't have my best interests at heart.

Not going to happen, and yes, I've asked about this. Coogs are loaded, and Keenum has another year. If they go undefeated or have one less next year, he'll have his choice of jobs.

Depending on how the dominoes fall, he may well have his pick THIS year.

Poor Ben . . . he's gone from defending Mangino at every turn just a mere 3 months ago, consistantly repeating the same mantra of NCOY/Orange Bowl/a 4 or 5 TD win in Manhattan . . . to telling us who he wishes will replace Mangino.

Karma . . . Irony??

would be a good hire. His defense has come under fire this year though, not sure if that's his fault or not.

I wanted to believe.... I really did.  I've never been a huge Mangino fan, though.  It's actually a pretty exciting time for me right now.  Could you imagine if ku was able to get Sumlin?

then I understand the list of backups includes Les Miles, Urban Meyer and Pete Carroll.

Get real, please.  Why would Kevin Sumlin take ku at this point?  Maryland, Florida State, Virginia, Notre Dame, Colorado, Illinois, Louisville...all those jobs are going to open up, and when they do, the dominoes are going to start to fall.  Just an example, but Notre Dame is talking a ton about Bob Stoops...Sumlin could easily be on the OU short list.  Oh, and just an opinion here, but all of those jobs are better than ku.  Plus, ku is "outing" a guy who just won NCOY and a BCS bowl...not exactly "attractive" at this point.

Sure it would be exciting, but I also remember watching gametracker as Sumlin's team gave up 600 yards of total offense to UTEP.   The guys running Gametracker could barely keep up.

Thing is, Houston has plenty of money, and right now football is king on that campus . . . I bet Sumlin holds out for another year with what he has returning and then parlays that into a huge new contract or moves on.

Someone, not partaking in hallucinogens, on the other board mentioned the early short list as Skip Holtz and Randy Edsell.  Holtz was the head coach at UCONN prior to Edsell.

Either would be logical, safe and very average hires.

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

Art Briles was 9-3 and 8-4 at UH in the two years before Sumlin.  Beat a couple decent, but over-rated teams, and lost to a couple of mediocre teams.  Seems to be a good coach, but it's not like he suddenly created a monster from nothing.

LOL @ early short list

ku fans should take their first 5 targets, write them down...crumple up the paper and start with a new list not using those 5.
