    Fear the Brick
LOL.  what a complete and total jackass.

Quote
The only Kansas State official willing to speak at length and on the record is Jon Wefald.
“It’s true we were friends, very, very close,” Wefald said of Krause during a phone call.

Asked in a later meeting how the two men met, Wefald said: “Here’s the deal. So I always wanted to be an academician,” before launching into a long story about his education, his background, his grandfather, farming in Minnesota … but not Bob Krause.

    The "other" KSU
What's the difference between Jon Wefald and God? God doesn't pretend to be Jon Wefald. What a disaster this is... Weefs CERTAINLY has cemented his legacy.

I think the worst thing that will come from this is fear in our Admin offices. KSU needs an AD and President that will do whatever it takes to win. The problem with Wef/Krause is they realized this only at the last minute when neither was capable of making a coherent decision but both thought they were the only ones capable. We probably don't have the luxury of being both status quo and consistently great like the Texas' of the world. I have no problem with doing crazy sh1t when it is the best option. I only have a problem with doing crazy sh1t that doesn't benefit us. Now it won't even be an option.

I don't see how this little buyout thing would help us win.  And really, giving old ballz a lifetime contract at $2 mil a year qualifies as crazy sh*t to me.

Yeah, that's my point. It's both crazy and detrimental. I think the "lifetime contract" talk is just lip service for our fanbase but I could just be hoping that is the case.

I guess I think that's so far beyond retarded that I wouldn't think anyone would be deterred to "take a risk" because of it.  Could just be hoping, though.

Lets take Prince, Weefer, Krause and $3.2 million in singles, throw them all in a pit, douse in gasoline and light a match.

Old Balls doesn't have a "lifetime" contract worth $2 million a year.

He can make over $2 million with his bonuses as the head coach, but if he steps down from coaching and stays with K-State athletics, he gets paid $150k a year.   Plus he can be dismissed, and I think that will cost K-State $1 million, I'd have to go back and re-read the contract but I think that's right.

His current contract has a lot more "with the written permission of the Athletic Director" clauses in it than his previous contracts ever dreamed of having.

As far as taking risks are concerned . . . I would have much rather have had Krause up to his old tricks of his Colbert Hills deal days in getting facilities built rather than having him conjuring up dumbass contracts for coaches.   That's what I thought they guy would be doing and that's why at first I was perfectly fine with him being made the AD . . . I had no idea (as I am sure most didn't either) that he was capable of being that stupid in regards to a coaching contract . . . and no, the contract extension in and of itself was no big deal whatsoever, it was obviously the rest that was a big deal.

What a &@#%ing disaster.  What was Krause thinking when he decided that we should put 5.5 million dollars of faith in Prince?  Our donors won't even step up for the basketball facilities, they're sure as hell not going to pony up to pay for this.

“The university believes that Bob Krause was acting alone and without knowledge or approval of anyone else at the university,” a Kansas State spokesman wrote by e-mail.

No they don't.

Kruase would be a co-defendant in the lawsuit against Prince if they honestly believed that.   :frown:

“I see only two areas where we disagreed. One was (basketball coach) Jim Wooldridge, keeping him another year. [Weiser] didn’t think he was going to be a very good Big 12 coach. Well, he was right about that. … And then I don’t think he favored extending Ron’s contract.”

Sigh . . . I'll explain my feelings about old Timmy once again.  He was a pretty good AD that did some good things.

Why I don't like Tim:

1.  Drug his feet on facilities improvements.

2.  Cared a lot more about Tim Weiser than he did about K-State, this was proven by the fact that he should have just resigned if he felt Wefald was sticking his nose in too much, instead of making sure he got a huge chunk of money.  I don't blame the guy for doing it, because that was smart . . . but I am a K-State person, not a Tim Weiser person and he clearly put himself way ahead of K-State's interest.

3.  Anyone having the audacity to ask to borrow $500K from K-State athletics while publically whining constantly about how K-State didn't have the money to do this, or do that . . .. that's just big ol "let that one sit there for while" idea.

4.  So brazen that he literally set up a deal whereby K-State athletics paid his consulting company aka The Weiser Way aka Tim Weiser, hundreds of thousands of dollars in consulting fees.   You just have to stand back and admire that.  That's balls as big as churchbells stuff right there kids.
