We've discussed this, as well. The only thing good about it is the selection of extensions. Besides that, it's incredibly slow and incredibly ugly. I had used it since it was Firebird up to 3.5. It's desire to be the light weight anti-Mozilla suite/netscape of the browser world has turned against itself and it has become a bloated slow piece of crap.

I used Chrome for about 2 days before switching back to FF. The only thing speed-wise about FF that's annoying is boot-up...after that pages load just as fast as Chrome for me.

Oh, and add-ons are a huge freaking deal, in terms of awesomeness.

Chrome has extensions too. Nowhere near the selection, but all you really need is Adblock. What add ons do you desperately need? Foxy Tunes? The one that tracks what woot.com is selling? My biggest annoyance of Firefox is the aesthetics. Compared to Chrome, it takes up a lot more screen space and is ugly as hell. The screen space affects me most, because when I work I have to squeeze the window down quite a bit. Only 2 22" monitors :(

Fringe case...not everyone is an archie.

I use Better Gmail, UnPlug, Surf Canyon, Tab Mix Plus, Xmarks, off the top of my head. And that's just because I haven't taken the time to explore the myriad other awesome add-ons there are.

Chrome, being so bare-boned, has only one supposed advantage I was looking for: speed. And upon further review, I noticed no browsing speed difference between Chrome and FF.

I use no add-ons. I really like the private browsing, though. If you don't like smaller screen space, quit using stupid ass things. Just sayin.

Better Gmail gave firefox 3.0 TONS of issues. UnPlug is the only one of those I used and actually thought was worth it. Do you seriously think all the extensions through one program are worth it? I used to be on that bandwagon but there are hardly any worthy ones unless you're a developer or run scripts to cheat at mafia wars. Cool Iris was about the only one outside of the box I was impressed with, but it's not exactly something I ever used.

Google recent put in built-in bookmark syncing and they opened up the API to developers so they will be able to use push syncing with their extensions. I can't wait to see what comes of that.

And how do you use garbage like Surf Canyon but not Ad Block plus?

Most of the Firefox addons are garbage.  The only one worth keeping is AdBlock and you can get adblocking addons on all browsers now.  Firefox was created to be the simple, fast and non-bloated browser to replace Netscape and Internet Explorer.  And now it is the complicated, slow and bloated browser it came to replace.  Classic Anakin to Darth Vader story.  Go get Chrome or Safari.

Why install an ad blocking add-on when FF's built-in ad blocker keeps me from ever getting pop-ups? What's the point?

And Safari? GTFOOMF, Safari blows. Slow as crap. And Chrome is just FF without the add-ons. So, worse. Not faster, like advertised. Just more bare-boned.

They don't have the add-on community FF does. So what is Chrome's advantage? It's uglier, does less, and is no faster than FF in practice.

Sounds awesome.  :jerkoff:

The "add-on" community? Seriously? Do you really need weather in your status bar and a woot tracker next to your home page? What is the advantage of such a huge community? I was a FF user much longer than you and I never saw the benefits in any of the "add-ons". Adblock + is the ONLY one that is worth a damn to me and, well would you look at that, it's on Chrome as well. Do you even know anything about the Chrome add ons?

As for aesthetics, were you using it on XP or Vista/7? Chrome looks great with Aero enabled. Firefox is a cluttered mess that takes up unnecessary amounts of space. The default icons are hideous. What about Firefox do you find aesthetically pleasing? It's one of the main reasons I stopped using it. It's had the same basic look since 0.5 Phoenix/ 0.6 Firebird. Ironically, I think Firebird ran better than FF 3.5.

And no offense, but I'm not taking performance notes from a guy thinking adblock and no script are just for pop ups. All javascript apps are noticeably faster from my experiences. That's the first thing that triggered me to check out chrome. I understand the 3.6 is noticeably more stable and faster with javascript, but 3-3.5 was absolutely awful compared to Chrome.

I never said what adblock was for; I'd never heard of it. Looked it up, sounds awesome, installed it.

As for aesthetics: Personas, dude. Never use the default look. C'mon.

And how many times do I have to say this: I ran Chrome and FF side by side, and Chrome was NO FASTER than FF.

Also, you can't have used FF "much longer" than me, seeing as how I've been using FF pretty much since it launched.

Then what about Chrome did you not find aesthetically pleasing? What FF themes/tweaks do you use? Why are you bragging about the extensions when you don't even use them? Are you here to actually discuss anything or just bitch all day and declare what ever you have is better?

And your side by sides comparisons are great and all, but you're not the only person in the world. There are other people with different experiences that do different things with their browsers. Running javascript heavy pages, there's a noticeable difference. Even loading of pages is different. Nearly everyone around the web notices it. You are the exception here.

And when do you consider Firefox to have launched? 1.0? I've used it since it was codename Phoenix. Version 0.4 I think. That's a couple years difference. I've used it for a long time and seen it go up and down over time. I love it for what it is, but the foundation quickly lost sight of what made it great.

Also, just wondering when talking about stuff like this turns from two people talking to one person calling the other out as a dork? Not like I'm offended, but you were part of the discussion too. Is it that you're all talk no substance? Just pretend you know everything? You just pretend to know what you're talking about? Just to instigate? What?

When it comes to computers, mostly...Usually...Usually...yes, of course.

Still won't use Google Chrap though.
