BTW, given the general douche bagginess of the HCIQ types this thread is now officially the Ask Super LCIQ Steve Dave Your Computer Questions

I, uh, ordered my W7 update from Dell about a week ago.  I check the mail and check for Fedex/UPS packages like 20 times a day and still no W7.  How long does that crap take to get here?

This is a good question.  Exactly 7 days in the Omaha area.

Steve Dave, I always think of how to be more productive. I want to plug two mouses (mice?) in at the same time with 2 pointers on the screen. I think it would be badass and one step closer to solving crimes before they happen like in Minority Report. Make this happen for me. tia.

Buy two computers.  Make one a Mac and one a PC so you can act like a douche bag to any other computer owner regardless of what kind they use.  Act really elite all the time and talk about how lame everyone else is.

SD, I bought one of those cable thingys so my TV will be a monitor for my laptop but whenever I drag things over to my TV it's like, really big and shiz instead of a normal size. How do I make it normal instead of gigantor? I have a mac TIA.

Good question.  I have found that using a smaller TV helps with this.  If you have another smaller TV just use it.  Or, just use a kind of bigger computer monitor and scrap the whole tv thing.  They sell them at the Apple store (at least the Omaha Apple store) so I would look there.  Also they have ipods so look at those while you are there.  Get the black one (ipod, not monitor) because it looks the most badass.  hth

Don't get me wrong, I think it's slick so far. But what are the new features I should be giddy about? The hover preview on the taskbar is nice. I won't use the snap-to-side feature much, but it's handy when I need it, I guess.

What else?

The Problem Steps Recorder is amazing for me in the troubleshooting side of things. Makes it so much easier to work with clients on issues. Love the Snipping Tool as well, makes PrintScreen for me a thing of the past. I will try to use the XP mode more in the future, not really got into it yet, but looks interesting. Just like the overall speed of the OS, much quicker. I'm not sold on the new taskbar functions, but will get used to it eventually.

Q:  Is Windows 7 really a much more agile operating system, in terms of the specific uses it can be moulded to?

The interesting thing is, it’s basically the next version of Vista. Vista was a totally redesigned operating system from XP. We’ve improved upon Vista in that way. We’ve stripped out a lot of the code, we’ve made a lot of it much more efficient, it sits on a smaller footprint, it operates far more quickly, it’s far more agile and effective in terms of the calls it makes. I saw an article recently that described it as ‘Vista on steroids’, and in some ways you can absolutely relate to that.

One of the things that people say an awful lot about the Apple Mac is that the OS is fantastic, that it’s very graphical and easy to use. What we’ve tried to do with Windows 7 – whether it’s traditional format or in a touch format – is create a Mac look and feel in terms of graphics. We’ve significantly improved the graphical user interface, but it’s built on that very stable core Vista technology, which is far more stable than the current Mac platform, for instance.

Thanks dude. Here's a random issue: when I try to save an image in Firefox on W7, it defaults to a URL and erases the given filename. Highly annoying. What's up with that?

Ya, tweezers seem like the best thing to use.  It's not a big enough hole for needle nose pliars, is it?  That would be my go-to tool for this job if they could get in there but I doubt they could.  Did you blow in it really hard?

Are you right clicking and hitting "save image as" or dragging it to a folder? Is this with every image or just an image on a certain website?

Copy and past it to MS Paint and then save it to the desktop like that.  If you want to touch it up with the spray can feel free (there's, like, 4 different sizes of spray)

No idea about FF. I don't have it installed. But you could do it since Windows 95/98 with IE. And it does it in Chrome. I suppose FF would.
