    I survived the Dickey/Parrish era.
Someday I will win the powerball. When I do, I'll donate multi-millions to Powercat U. One condition, though. They have to play ku at Ahearn. Most of you are way to young to have seen a game there. I, for one, attended many years of season ticket games there. Bramlage sucks, in comparison. If you never experienced it, don't bitch about it.

All you people who have a hard-on for Ahearn need to realize that we'll never play a game there. It has major code and accessibility deficiencies that would have to brought up to snuff with at least the current requirements of the ADAAG, IBC and NFPA. Major waste of $$.

If your just dying for the old "field house" look/atmosphere then you need to do the following:

1. Get your lazy old @$$ to games at the Bram so its packed out every game

2. When you finally get to the Bram don't sit on your lazy old @$$ for the entire game, actually stand up and possibly make some noise

3. Save your money and give it to KSU

4. Bug the AD for improvements to the Bram (we can take the roof off of the Bram, add balconies and make the new roof and walls have a "field house" look. Note: this would cost less than renovating Ahearn)

5. Pray that maybe your great grand kids will eventually see the Bram converted

First off, the old stands that were in the lower part that went from the floor to the balcony, the ones they literally had to construct piece by piece before the start of every basketball season . . . are long, long, long gone.   Next, the fire Marshall will never . . . repeat NEVER allow them to duplicate those stands, because with those stands the building was so far out of code it wasn't even on the planet.   So without those "half butt cheek" stands the building doesn't maintain it's "magic".    Without massive renovations, if they ever attempted to play a game in there now, the best they could do would be to maybe get 7,000 in there . . . maybe.   That simply isn't the same as 11,220 jammed into 9,000 seats.

What a complete, absolute and utter waste of money it would be to play another game in Ahearn, unless they were going to charge $1,000 bucks a ticket.

The cost alone of renting stands, moving the court over (there is no more basketball court) buying or renting scoreboards (the basketball scoreboards are long sense gone), rigging anything resembling a feasible sound system, getting the place set up would likely push into the 6 figures.

Alright, Daxipad, my point is when I win the powerball, I will donate the gazillions need to do the renovation. Either that or pay off any and all inspectors. IT SHALL BE DONE, so sayeth the TBL.
