I will be the first to admit I am not predicting crap for this team....yet.  But, that being said.  I just experienced the first of what will be many incidents of a ku/mu/nu fan starting to suck up and compliment OB and the Cats so they can avoid my derision later on the off chance we do win the North.

Now this guy is the typical ku fan.  Bought a TON of ku gear in about September of 2007.  Affixed a huge size of manhole cover" jayhwak sticker to the dead center of the rear windshield of his Exterra after they beat Nebraska that year and began filling his office with jayhawk memorabilia including clocks, footballs, a rug, helmetlamp and other ugly crap.

Today we ended up walking down the hall together and he slowly said "I have to admit, I am pretty surprised with what Snyder has done in Manhattan."

me: "really?  He won 4 north titles and beat the crap of ku and Mangino for years and years.  Why is that surprising?"

him: "normally when a coach comes back, they suck"

me: "name once"

him:  "well he is doing good with a terrible team.  I hope they pound MU."

me:  "GTFOOMF.  You are a greaseweenie."

I'd like to hear similar stories.

kufan:  "Man, you guys would probably be 7-1 had Freeman stayed."

me:  "atleast you don't have to pretend to like football anymore.   "

    (worst non-premium poster at ksufans.com)
as most of you know, I trade energy for a large firm in KC and make a ton of cash doing it.  well, one of the guys in my office, huge MU fan.  his name is terrance.  terrance is relatively new to energy trading, hell, he's new to commodity trading.  anyway the guy is a little wet behind the ears but generally a nice guy.

terrance sends me an instant message this morning at like 5 am (i'm usually on the treadmill about this time).  it reads "hey man we need to talk, what time are you hitting the office today"

i responded, "stop by my office around 10 a.m., sharp"

so long story short he stopped by my office and i was in the can dropping a deuce so my secretary had him wait in my office lobby.  i got done and had her send him in.  my secretary is nailz.  nailz.

terrance comes into my office, i pour a scotch and before i can get it into his hands he is like "hey man, i'm seriously thinking about getting me and you tix to the K-State vs. MU game, best seats in the house"  i guess he knows pinkle and used to play at MU.  he goes on "but i'm worried you guys are gonna smoke us this year, this Lynch Mob defense is no joke"

i was like "slow down, and repeat what you just said, because i don't think you could have said what I think you said", i said "you were thinking????"

case closed.

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

New warning: Don't get in a fight with someone who doesn't even need to bother to buy ink.

Got a friends brother that is ku everything....runs his mouth when we're working side jobs on the weekends about how Mangino had an even tougher job turning around Kansas because its a basketball school that went from horrible in 2002...to winning the Orange Bowl only five years later....so before this season starts the guys reminds me constantly that Snyder is past his prime and has no chance to do anything of significance with Kstate anymore...and now that we're winning the North his backpeddle is that the North is the worst its ever been and everyone else is losing..hence, Snyder's success this season. He's a gigantic douche that changes his argument every time he's cornered. Cant wait to beat Kansas in a week and a half.

Okay, so this one's a little dated but the concept is the same........

I was at 64-0 that year, bought tix from a scalper out front for $5....about 25 rows up 40 yard line or so (don't exactly remember but they were decent).  I find our seats and start movin' to sit down.  This older Squawk lady says, "no these seats are taken."  I say, "they sure are their mine for today."  She says, "That can't be I know the guy that has these seats and he wouldn't sell them.  He played on the 1968 Orange Bowl team (my pause for historical integrity: that only tied for the title and lost in the head to head with the OU team they tied and only got to go because they hadn't been in the longest, yeah that team) and he would never ever sell his tickets, especially to a K-Stater."  So that pissed me off and if she hadn't a been a senior citizen beaker I might've got really pissy, but I say real nice and syrupy, "Well, I guess everybody's got their price."  So she doesn't really get this whole banter thing and says, "Well, what was his, probably alot?"  Now, you could just light up half of Douglas County with my beaming face cause I say, "Yep, it was a whole 5 bucks."

So she's silent for awhile and then when the pounding begins she decides to try to make nice, or I'm gonna make her life miserable.  I mean heck, it's gonna be 64-0 and we all know it.  So she's all like would you like to have some of these snacks and she's generally trying to tolerate all of K-State Nation that is just pummeling the 'Hawks.  In the meantime I'm not letting up with the EMAW.  Finally, at one point in stunned disbelief she says, "I can't believe how bad this is, how can this be that bad?"  To which I say, "ku's just not very good, but don't worry we won't score too much more on you, Bill's gonna shut it down."  At which point she says, you K-Staters are sure a classy bunch I guess it wasn't so bad havin' you here"  To which I respond, "But, the bad news is, you aren't gonna score either."  No more had I finished the sentence than  BS ran the 1st team Lynch Mob back in there an snuffed out their best penetration of the game preserving the shutout.

In my office tower downtown they offer concierge service for cleaning your car.  Well, the LRover was a bit dirty from the Emaw trip to Manhattan for the CU game so I called down and had the guy give her a real spit and polish (ordered the "Continental Package" - full detail and an oil change).  Anyway, guy who works there is a ku biz school grad and has always been very dismissive of the Cats.  In 2007, he even left a post it with the Cats v. ku score stuck on the dash of my Navi.  Well today when I picked it up he had seen the CU game ticket stub in my console and complimented me on the win.

Said "that was a good win.  I knew Snyder would have them back on the right track.  Doesn't hurt that ol' coach Hawken (LOL, what a doof) put in his son though does it?"

I replied "It also didn't hurt that our defense let them cross the 50 exactly twice the entire game"

Flipped him a tip and chirped out.

was real hungry earlier today, so stopped through mcdonald's drive thru for lunch. ordered the 2 cheeseburger meal (takes me back to college), and pulled up to pay. the cashier was an older male with a ku hat on. as i was pulling up, i saw his eyes get big. he pulled his hat down to cover the embarrassing look on his face. he must have saw my license plate with the powercat.

i gave him my money, and said, 'ku fan, huh?' He stuttered a little bit. something like, "um, uh, what makes you say...oh, uhh yeah, i am." i gave him a smirk, told him to keep his head up, and took my two cheeseburgers and drove off.

Hawkins put in his son because Tyler was looking like crap against our D. The same QB that shredded ku like lettuce. ku has the worst fans ever.

Bookcat next time just ask that guy what big game has uk won under mangino? I guess we can give them the orange bowl against a weak big least champ in a game they did not deserve to be in (mizzou was penalized for playing in the big 12 championship game) but it still did not get them in the top 5 or even a big 12 championship game. They are 0-fer 13, soon to be 14. Heck we have played in 3 and won one of them ourselves.

I mean really what have they ever won? Texas? No, even Prince beat them twice. OU? no. Big 12 championship games played in? Zero. Last title in football? 1968 big 8, shared title, 41+ years ago. I tell uk fans that give me grief that they have not won a meaningful in football in more 40 years and I have never heard an intelligent response to disclaim my statement.

Me: Lol

ku guy: what are you laughing at.

Me: lol

ku guy: Mangino is a hard ass, he as suspended Briscoe like 3 times.

Me: lol

It was a great conversation

Possible....there were many great road trips in the DOD.

Don't ever forget to remind those arrogant peacocks.....they've been in two Or. Bowls and have deserved either one.   No amount of sqawkin' will ever change that.

Title?  BS...by yesterday's "we all love one another" standards.  They had the same conference record as OU in '68 and lost in the head-to-head....back in the day when all conf. schools played one another and by all logical measures ku was #2 that year...they were just "selected" for the OB....can't ever forget this.

Saw this on Youtube.

Also, the Lincoln news paper reported that Bo's house was vandalized after the ISU game. Police reports show the perpetrator was apprehended shortly after. A Police official was quoted saying..."It wasn't hard to figure out out who did it. Only 2 of the 12 eggs actually hit the house." Zac Lee was cited for the incident and will be expected to appear in court later next month.
"When Beasley dunked in the second half to make it a 12-point game, that was the loudest moment I’ve ever experienced at a college hoops game - Allen Fieldhouse included.”
