I would add that there are short term rivalry's as well.  There was a little bit of rivalry after the 2003 game you guys are so proud of, but that kinda died out after KSU stopped being competitive.

OU has also had a recent mini-rivalry with Missouri.  That had a lot to do with Chase Booger Daniel and the arrogance they had when they made it to #1 for a week.  But he's gone and things are back to normal.

We let Tejas and USC "claim" us as rivals, but it's not very accurate.  Those two schools would have to start beating us every once in a while for it to be a true rivalry.  Right now it's pretty one-sided in favor of EMAW.

Don't you have to play a team every once in a while for it to be a rivalry?  You may hate USC, just as OU fans hate USC, but that doesn't make it a rivalry.

You should be asking who K-State views as a rival, and uk is not one of them.

Really?  That's a new one for me.  Living in Kansas myself I've always heard that was the big one.

If that's true then KSU has no real traditional rivalry's.

We tried until Carroll got scared and was like NO MORE  :kstatriot:

He figured if he ever wanted to start winning national championships that he would have to stop playing kstate.

Does KSU have a real rival besides ku?

Did I touch a nerve here guys?  I still haven't heard an answer to an honest question.

I know that ku is a rival, and ku's other rival is Missouri.

OU's main rivals are Texas and OSU.  There is still somewhat of a rivalry with Nebraska, but that was seriously injured with the creation of the Big 12.  That rivalry has been different though as it's a respectful rivalry.  We don't hate Nebraska, but in the Big 8 days it was usually the game to determine who would go to the Orange Bowl.

So getting back to the original question, is there a team besides ku that recognizes KSU as a rival?

They may not outright say we are their rivals, but for certain we are in their heads.

HTH.

Sure, you may be in a team's head, but that doesn't make it a rivalry.

It looks like the last time KSU played USC was 2002.  How is that a rivalry?  How many games did you actually play, 2?

OK, I think what I'm hearing is that for KSU to have a rival it has to be somebody they can consistently beat up.....even if the last time they played was 7 years ago.  So that would have to exclude Louisiana-Lafayette.   ;)

Since KSU is 1-4 against ku since 2004 that means they can't be a rival.

What am I missing?  Does KSU have any real traditional rivalry's, and with the title of this thread, who is it that's terrified?

Dude,
You're not bringing it very well at this point....you're going to have to apply a little more thought and analysis than this to get this whole thing.

You cannot be linear or symmetrical in any way as you think about this.

JFC is it really not that obvious?

Find the record of KSU vs another GOOD Big 12 team in both football and basketball.

That might explain some things....

And I quote one of their fans:  "Why does K-State always kick us in the nuts when we get in the top 10?"

This doesn't seem very difficult.  I was able to outline OU's rivalry's without any hesitation.  In this thread the closest thing I've been able to gather is that USC and Texas are terrified of KSU because they are 5-3.   :banghead:

OK, so you're telling me that you enjoy having a football team that sucks as long as they beat a good team every now and then?

That still doesn't tell me who the rivals are.

You guys beat OU once 6 years ago.  It was a crushing loss.  But OU has demolished KSU 3 times since then.  You're hardly in their heads.

We beat OU badly five times in a row and they responded by hiring away half our coaching staff.

And now they act like we're a bunch of pissants that never did anything.

I understand now how the Indians felt when they stole their land.
I understand now how Missouri felt when they stole away Don Faurot's staff.

It's like the whole state has amnesia.

Or maybe it's what the Texans claim.  Maybe they are all as dumb as apes.

Three straight wins with two of them at your house......yeah, I'm sure.  There aren't too many KSU threads on the Sooner boards right now.  Yesterday there was a poll asking if KSU would even score.  Today the short thread was someone asking if Demarco Murray would be healed up for KSU.  It's a pretty boring topic over there.  That's why I decided to check over here.

The only link I saw was to the thread about Texas.  You play them 2 out of every 4 years.  You really think that's a rivalry?  Your only rivalry?  I know Texas doesn't think of you as a rival.  They see you as a pimple on their butt.

You beat OU five times in OU's worst years ever.....which happened to be KSU's best years ever.

We don't see you as pissants that never did anything.  We see you as pissants that had one decent decade and still no national championships to show for it.  We see you as pissants that don't now how to handle a win.  Winning a few games when you're not used to winning really makes you guys think you're better than you really are.  You have a team that's 5-3 in a really bad division.....a team that lost to Louisiana-Lafayette!

You had plenty of opportunities to get those coaches back.  They were good coaches, and they weren't getting an opportunity with Snyder around.  When Snyder left none of them chose to go back to Manhattan.

No thank you.  We're not proud of that record.  In fact we're pissed.  We're going to be 5-3 this weekend, and we're still going to be pissed.  It's a wasted season.

The 3 losses were lost by a combined 5 points.  Our offensive coaching staff didn't put the team in a position to win.  We want an overhaul in the offensive coaching staff.
