Prior to the Bill Snyder era, the 1969 K-State vs OU game was the greatest in K-State football history. It was Kansas State's first win over OU since 1934.

OU - 21
K-State - 59

My dad was, like, 10 or something.

I was 12...

When Dev Nelson was still alive, we had him come over to where I worked (in Junction City) for United Way presentation.  He told a story of this game.   If I remember correctly, Dev said that Oklahoma got the kickoff and ran 3 plays and was close to a first down.  On fourth down they were stopped.  That started the KSU rally.

Bud Wilkinson was, by then doing sports for ABC, I think.  Dev said that he saw the score and said, "We better check that score" !

This was the Vince Gibson era and KSU beat Oklahoma in 1969 and 1970...

I love the smell of peat in the evening.  That smell, you know that earthy smell...  Smells like...whisky !
